Short version.

Looking for older RPG's that can be played in a window without it being a PITA and needing to do tonnes of shit to actually achieve, been playing Torchlight on the laptop but i need to be able to keep stuff open and visible at the same time, hoping for things like divine divinity and stuff like that, not as fussed about deus ex etc, better on the desktop with that. needs to be more hack and slash RPG than pure story driven. Unfortunately this rules out Baldurs gate types for me atm (they are better on the desktop anyway.

Anyone got suggestions?

Reasoning: Ill health, cant be at desktop that much, strong med, half brain dead 70% of the tiem

I have played Betrayal at Krondor in a window with good success. I usually end up making it FS, but I don't remember having any troubles.

That one came to mind, but it's VERY story and little hack-n-slash. So that one's out.

Icewind Dale is like Baldur's Gate. It has some story elements, but a LOT more combat and hack-n-slash-like-ness. You may enjoy that one. I'm not sure about its window-ability though.

P.S. I hope you get feeling better soon!

Going to try to get divine divinity to work windowed while most of my dogs are still barking
I think all the Spiderweb games are playable in a window, from what I remember
You should try Unepic. I currently play it on windowed mode, Its a "Castlevania" game.
