I contacted Killerfish Games to ask why their game "War on the Sea" is not available on GOG. I was told that they contacted GOG and received no response. Attached is the email I received from Killerfish Games. Can somebody PLEASE contact them and get this released on GOG.

I'm tired of not having access to games because I hate Steam and EPIC games and refuse to use them. Killerfish appears willing to have this game released on GOG, to go with their other titles already here, so PLEASE make it happen.

Looks like an interesting game, though it took me a minute to actually find it since it's called War on the Sea rather than War at Sea, and I had to add Killerfish Games to the search to find the right page. ;)

Since it appears to be within my ancient system's abilities to run, I'd be willing to give it a try if it came here to GOG.

If you're going to make a thread about bringing a game here, it would be a good idea to make sure you have the game's name correct. ;) I wasted several minutes looking through search results in the Dreamlist for which game you meant, finding nothing that looked like what you were talking about, then Googled it with the studio name to figure out what was up. (I had only skimmed your screenshotted e-mail, so didn't notice 'til afterward that the name in that was different. :/ )

There are currently only 12 votes for War on the Sea on its Dreamlist entry. While GOG already has a couple of other Killerfish games, and they seem to be rated decently enough by people who've bought them here, this sort of game probably has a somewhat niche audience, so GOG probably chose not to prioritize going after more stuff from them for the moment. That's not to say they won't ever bring this one here -- and that's where voting comes in. :)

Edit before posting: Partially ninjaed, but I'll let my post stand since I took so long to compose it. XD

Trent0001: Doh. Is there a way to edit the post title?
Not by you. :P But you could ask a mod (like king_kunat), instead of spamming a second thread. They'd likely get to it tomorrow, depending on their workload (and on whether it's another public holiday in Poland :P ).

Should I create a thread with the correct name?
If they already have submitted War on the Sea via the submission form then they're in the queue and just have to wait until GOG gets back to them.

Which, according to a recent interview Nightdive conducted with two GOG representatives can take quite a while - apparently the number of submissions they receive on a regular basis is rather high, and understaffed as GOG is they simply cannot reply to every single one in a timely fashion.

Trent0001: Should I create a thread with the correct name?
Just covered that above in a subsequent post. Basically, I wouldn't, as this is neither tremendously important nor time-sensitive. Especially since there's also no way for regular users to delete or lock their own threads.
Just message a moderator about changing the name, and bask in the shame until the change happens! =P
Huh, seems like a fairly easy bring since it's "old" by now and only single-player. I hope it shows up for people who want it.

Absolutely agree. Almost bought War on the Sea on Steam last week alongside Gates of Hell Ostfront... but the prices haven't quite fallen enough -- for me -- to justify a "rental." But if GOG doesn't bring these titles sooner than later (or not at all), Steam will see my money.

That fact that GOG just doesn't get back to studios is really sad.
If they're really flooded with that many submissions there's no way around prioritising submissions over others I assume.
Not much that can be done about it other than waiting and keep voting for it on the dreamlist.

Edit:

War on the Sea does have respectable 374 votes on the old wishlist, by the way:

Killerfish games is still alive?
yeah I am voting for war on the sea for sure now.
Thing that gets me about GOG not getting back to Killerfish regarding War on the Sea is...

... War on the Sea got a fair amount of videos / views across the mainline wargaming YouTubers, certainly much higher than Headquaters World War II (by Starni) which is on GOG (BTW, HWWII is a good game but not a big hit). And Killerfish does have other wargames released here!

I am continually befuddled by GOG's process of evaluating applications for new content. At least from the outside it, it looks chaotic and unprofessional. When GOG can't even send a reply / decline to an applicant -- especially one they have a relationship with prior! -- it just looks bad. Sigh...

GOG, I don't need you to be perfect, but baseline professionalism should be a requirement.

Interesting to see our Wishlist entries didn't transfer automatically to the Dreamlist. Around 300 - 400 Wishlists is much more than around 20 Dreamlists.

Thanks for pointing that out!

I've now added my vote on the Dreamlist (up to 28 now from 12), and I agree that's rather weird/annoying that the wishlist votes don't transfer.

I haven't played many sea-based war games mainly because most of the ones I've seen that actually look good are beyond my computer's abilities to run, but this one seems like it should be playable, and what I've seen of it now looks pretty good. So I'll reiterate what I said before: if it comes to GoG for a decent price I'd be willing to give it a try.
