GOG, try your best, to snatch this great old masterpiece of a series, from the incompetent and completely uncaring claws, of that destroyer EA! First of all, not only it is good, but it is the BEST, old, RTS series, pioneer of an entire genre, benchmark of the genre and point of reference! It not being here, is a complete sacrilege, in and by itself!

Then, both in steam and origin, certain games give various errors, which most of the time, render corresponding game, completely unplayable. And EA wouldn't give a single fart for upgrading titles, tweaking games, making them compatible with modern systems, even making them simply playable, in the first place...

Please, GOG, should those titles grace your store, i AM GOING to buy them, for a second time. I would even pay full price! Liberate them from DRM, tweak and manage them so they can play and run well in modern systems, try to strike a bargain and get them here, too... EA needs little force to budge, since those games are already available in STEAM!?

Now that even Bethesda cracked, you could do much! Push a little harder??
I think they're aware how acclaimed and wanted this series is.

The first C&C as well as RA were both declared freeware, however EA also sells them, so it's kinda strange. Otherwise, EA probably keeps them Origin exclusive to get people to use Origin.

Edit: Steam only has C&C 3 and beyond.

Yes, but EA doesn't give a damn about if or how much playable those games really are, for people who spent money on them. If they get here, gog would make them compatible first, offer support as they usually do, second! Them being left with EA as exclusives, pretty much, mean their certain permadeath.

It would be great to finally see the C&C series on GOG! How about The First Decade?
It's too hard to grab from EA.
They will put it here only when people will lose interest in C&C.
:@
They won't get the C&C series. You can buy all of them on Origin for less than 10$ on a good sale and 20$ full price.

As for play ability, they all work 100% as far as I've seen.

Just for your information, only the newer Command and Conquer games are available on Steam; the rest are currently exclusive to Origin.

Currently, they are only available to download for free from third-party sites and not from EA itself. Should they come here, I imagine that EA might do something similar to Bethesda and offer them to anyone who spends money on one of the paid Command and Conquer games.

Hope the rumors of selling out to EA is actually talks about this

I've seen it for 5 USD on Amazon a few times. It's how I picked it up.

The first two games (the most legendary two) have constant slow downs and little niggles that long time fans like myself will notice. I think it's disrespectful the way they've shovelled this series under the carpet.

I've played all three Red Alerts, and the first two Tiberium games (and started the third, but... Had to stop as the campaign is completely broken by the multiplayer balance patches), as well as Generals (but not Zero Hour), and I have to completely disagree here; the original and Red Alert 1 are slow, clunky, and the two sides just feel too similar to one another. Red Alert 2 was where the series really hit its stride, and Tiberium 3 and Generals are both great games as well (though Generals does fall into the trap of feeling like it's trying to be StarCraft instead of CnC).

EA, its in our pocket! I don't see them coming here any time soon, though I don't rule it out as there have been some surprises recently, the above mentioned Morrowind for instance. As for Beth cracking, I don't think that is the case. Daggerfall/Arena were free for a long time, Battlespire and Redguard were pretty much unheard off. The doom stuff was only inherited by them. So nothing really changed for them other than they get money for nothing. I could see them maybe considering Oblivion here in a while.

As for C&C, well the first was great, I still remember zipping the demo of it over 7 floppies with PKWare! "Vehicle reporting" - said with a weird US accent. But once you discover sandbags its loses it challenge.
Would still like to see them here.

How can it be slow and clunky if they play exactly like the other games. Strange criticism there. You do realise they're also related as a story, hence the similarities in some weapons etc? Every one of the games had something cool to them, even that Bastard child Generals (great expansion pack). But Red Alert 2 was a fantastic game. Shame it lacked the gritty '90s charm that the original game had. Something every single C&C game lacked.

The sand bag trick is the only thing that was not patched out of the game haha. But saying that, you still had to build them round your base which took forever. :P

They don't play "exactly like" the other games. The feel a lot slower than later games (and I didn't like Tiberium Sun as much because it also felt kind of slow), and the old engine with its outdated pathfinding just feels like too much of an annoyance to deal with most of the time.

What I'm saying is that GDI and Nod don't feel very different in CnC1. Similarly, I feel there's not enough difference between the Allies and the Soviets in RA1. To be fair, I may be spoiled because my introduction to RTS was StarCraft, where there's almost zero similarity between the races- and I've come to expect this from most RTSs. In future games, I felt I was more or less granted this, but the first two felt like each side only had a few special units that made them truly unique.

Starcraft and the original C&C are in a league of their own. Want to talk about path finding, Starcraft is awful! I love that game but it's not the best example of a great RTS if we're going down this road. :D
