As some of you may already know, WB has been cancelling their movies and series left right, and centre for a while now. They have now started doing the same to games, starting with the Adult Swim catalogue. GOG only has 3 games, published by Adult Swim, but Steam has about 20, all of which are at risk of being delisted within 60 days.

Interestingly enough, while WB are refusing to transfer Steam page ownership to respective developers, they seem to be OK with these developers republishing their games completely from scratch. According to a Polygon article, WB-Discovery told the developer of Soundodger+ that he's allowed to republish the game on Steam as a new product. He must ensure that any mention of Adult Swim is removed from the game, including its credits.

Since most of these games, such as the Soundodger+, were never on GOG anyway, most of those Steam-centric concerns would be irrelevant if they were to self-publish on GOG. They would only have to ensure that any and all Adult Swim mentions are removed.

So with that in mind, I think GOG should try to reach out to the developers of these games and try to convince them to self-publish their games on GOG. Two of these Adult Swim games are already self-published on GOG, actually. They are Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe and Fist Puncher.

GOG frequently uses the "Game preservation" phrase in their marketing, so reaching out to the affected developers would be a really great opportunity to demonstrate some game preservation. Who knows, some gaming news outlet may even write an article about it, if GOG were to succeed in bringing some of those games here.

One Adult Swim game that I'd love to see the most on GOG is Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, but sadly, it probably has the lowest chance of appearing here.

Agreed. For times like these, GOG should drop the curation barrier for these games if their devs are willing to keep them accessible after removing all Adult Swim mentions in their games.

Would be nice as long as the games are fully intact. If they merely have to remove some AS logos and such i'd be ok with that, but if they had to remove content then i'd be more okay with "other sites" doing the preserving.
Super House of Dead Ninjas would be awesome.
GOG should at least acknowledge the interest on doing this if real preservation is in their prerogative.
Those tweets saying "preserve video games" don't mean much if you at the very least don't tell us "look we're trying"

The least they could do is put a Mystery of the Druids disk in an aspic, or maybe some kind of fruity jam.

I agree. It's quite outrageous that GOG talks about preserving games without doing any actual "preserving". :-D
