I'm at the limit of my endurance for GoG at this point; I have very limited data cap where I live and it took me a while to get these offline installers downloaded; but when I go to install games the installer asks for part 1 file location; even though part 1 co-located with the installer; it comes back and acts like the files aren't there; if I specify the folder it does the same thing. The specific message in all cases is: "Specify the location of part 1 and click ok"; I select the folder where part 1 is installed and will always get back the error; "The file could not be located in the installer's folder. Please make sure that the file is in the correct folder, or specify it's current location."

For example; taking Tomb Raider 2013:
1. Downloadeded the following:
Setup 1,090KB
47027-1 bin.crdownload 4,113,664KB
47027-2 bin.crdownload 3,943,424KB
47027-3 bin.crdownload 3, 894,272KB
47027-4 bin.crdownload 3,878,912KB
47027-5 bin 655,695KB

Same error regardless of whether on Windows 7 or Windows 10 across 6 different PCs; with every game offline downloaded.

I'm getting to the point where I feel like I got played and would have been better off getting my games on steam. Does anyone know how to fix this; or are offline installers just an advertising gimmick?

Did you rename the files, by any chance?

Edit: "crdownload" is Chrome's way of marking incomplete files during download. That would explain why installation fails as the files are incomplete.

The correct file sizes should be 4.193.222 KB for bin-files 1-4.

I don't know WHAT he downloaded, but those are NOT the offline install files for windows.

- names / endings do not match
- file sizes are not correct (bin-files 2 to 4 should have exactly the same size

I shoud be like this:

setup_tomb_raider_1.0_(47027).exe
setup_tomb_raider_1.0_(47027)-1.bin
setup_tomb_raider_1.0_(47027)-2.bin
setup_tomb_raider_1.0_(47027)-3.bin
setup_tomb_raider_1.0_(47027)-4.bin
setup_tomb_raider_1.0_(47027)-5.bin

It seems like your downloads failed, since the files are incomplete?

"A CRDOWNLOAD file is a partially downloaded file created by the Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Chromium web browsers. It stores the contents of a file as it is being received by the browser and uses the .crdownload extension to mark the download as incomplete until it is finished, at which point the .crdownload extension is removed. CRDOWNLOAD files are similar to .PART files, which are used by the Mozilla Firefox web browser for partial downloads."

Ok thanks; what a bummer; I had to got to the city to get these downloaded; guess even my buddy's fiber can't make these files download. Thanks for the explanation though.

I think there's someting else at play. I downloaded the offline installers for Tomb Raider without a hitch only 4 days ago. A fiber connection should be able to handle such a download with ease

Anti-Virus? Bad HDD/SSD?
I suppose using Galaxy to download is out of the question?

I recall some people having download issues with some overly officious antivirus or antimalware utilities, who think you are downloading something bad, or the web site itself (gog.com) is bad and should be blocked.

All I can say is that try to disable your antivirus or antimalware while downloading, and/or try a different browser.

If you want to check their integrity, here are the MD5 hashes for Tomb Raider (2013) installer:

It helps to download only one at a time and to keep a separate tab open for the GOG store, GOG timeouts quickly, they really want you to use Galaxy instead. They used to have a great file downloader, but they took it down in favor of Galaxy.
So now in 2024 I wanted to update this a bit with my most recent frustrations with the Witcher 3 installer; I'm sticking with the DX11 installer I have downloaded fysa.

On some computers if gog galaxy is installed then the offline installed Witcher 3 will NOT RUN AT ALL; nothing will happen unless you add offline installed files to the gog client; the ONLY thing that works to ensure the offline version can work independently is to completely uninstall the GoG galaxy client.

So just in case anyone else has this same issue; the fix is to either add the game to the gog client after offline install and wait forever as it syncs over and over until it finally takes (40 minutes in my case to sync) OR just uninstall GoG galaxy and launch the executable and it will work no problem. I had to do this with 2 out of 4 W10 PCs.

Has GOG finally started including MD5 hashes so that a file's download integrity can easily be confirmed? If so where do I locate this information in my account?

Begin downloading an executable (or bin), such as an exe or sh. Cancel the download, but, copy the generated link. Then, simply add .xml to the end, and attempt to 'download'.

Example:
gog-cdn-fastly.gog.com/token=nva=0123456789~dirs=3~token=012345678901234567890/secure/recettear_item_shop_ tale/win/setup_recettear_an_item_shops_tale_2.0.0.2.exe.xml

The output should provide a list of md5 checksum values (the top item being for the file itself). See attached image.
