Hello,

Everytime I try to install GOG Galaxy I get this error at the end of the installation. (see attachments)

I have tried removing all the files, removing everything from programdata.
What's the matter, why won't it work?

I've been playing the closed Beta of Gwent for a long time until the GOG suddenly started acting up and stopped working at all.

The GOG Downloader is no option for me as it's bugged and won't let me login.
I can only play Gwent using the GOG Galaxy launcher and not by any other means.

I really want this resolved, I really wanna get back to my favorite game.
I've tried everything myself. I've already contacted support a few weeks ago and I'm still waiting for a response.
Anyone has any idea?

Finally Galaxy does something right. :P
Have you tried "right-click" and "run as administrator" when launching the installer? Before reinstalling, it might good to delete all old traces of files from all your folders and the registry entry. Then reinstall again.

Hello Nicole, I've attempted both options before and have tried them yet again on your recommendation, sadly without results. I keep getting the exact same error.

Let's see. How about try changing the compatibility settings (I presume you are on Win10?). Did you also delete the registry entries?

From other users who had problems with Galaxy, installing VC 2017 seems to help. Also try redownloading the installer.

Hey Tomboeg!

I've found another good answer to your problem, if you haven't solved it yet already.

Here it is -

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/shellexecuteex-failed-code-2-gog-galaxy/fd207a56-87b5-4b74-a654-287488e3921a

As said, you must delete all old registry entries.

Edit: Don't mean to double-quote, but this might come up on the forum notifications at the corner, so you will see it.

Hello again,

I've removed the entries from my registry but that did not seem to do the trick. I'm running on Windows 10 indeed.
I've also tried multiple versions of the installer aswell for the Gwent and GOG Galaxy installer, all without positive result.

I've also tried running the installer in different compatibility modes but all without success.

Oh dear, that does suck. Have you tried the new solution I posted up above?

Sweet brownies! This did the trick.

Apparently I've missed a few of the deep registries, your edit cleared it up and solved the matter.

I'm your debt, You should check my steam Inventory and see if I have any games you might like.

Hi guys - one thing it doesn't explain is how to find the correct
"subkey for the galaxy client that was pointing to a program called TuneUp Utilities that I've removed after upgrading to windows 10. After deleting the subkey the galaxy client installed without any errors and started right up."

Which one is it then and how do you spot it??

Thanks

Hi mate - see my post below - how do you spot the ones you need to delete? Thanks
So what i did after getting error message on my windows after downloading and trying to launch install with gog galaxy 2.0 , I've downloaded this version of gog ,galaxy_1.2.67.58., Installed it after I installed it , at the bottom there was a message failed to update to a new version , so what I did , went to settings and clicked the box where i choose to participate as beta tester so after clicking that in a few minutes update arrived so I updated to new beta , it's better than nothing
When I followed the steps of deleting the TuneUps thing it still won't delete
