Greetings!
I've been fighting with this problem for a while now. The more games I have installed locally, the more it becomes annoying (more updates, more prompts).
I have installed GOG Galaxy inside a directory of my own making ( C:\Me\Gaming\Platforms\GOGGalaxy ), and I install the games in C:\Me\Gaming\Games.

Even with this precaution, I still see the infamous UAC request which require me to input password for my Windows Administrator Account, which is incredibly annoying.

Is there any solution to this?
I'm happy to change permissions of the directories involved (I noticed those are all Owned by the Administrators group), so that I can stop having those prompts. Those directories are safe to be messed up anyway, worst case scenario I have to re-download a bunch of games.

My games installation folder has my account listed as owner, as do the subfolders, which is to be expected since their permissions should be inherited.

So yes, that would be the first thing to try: right-click C:\Me\Gaming\Games and choose Properties, then click the Security tab, then the Advanced button, then click the Change link next to Owner. Also double-check that the Disable Inheritance button is available, but don't click it.

Otherwise, GOG Galaxy might not like being in the same path as the games folder, or maybe even anywhere other than the default installation folder. Note that there's a dedicated GOG GALAXY 2.0 discussion forum where you might get a better answer.
You can also contact support though it will likely take weeks to get a response.

1) uninstall galaxy - win.
2) don’t have everything you own installed all the time, it costs more in storage, slows your machine, can cause corruption, and it really is no effort to simply install what you want to play from installers. And of course uninstall galaxy as well to free up system resources and storage.

Thanks for the input, this doesn't take into account couch-play. During a couch gaming session (when you invite friends over) it's pretty common to rotate between a bunch of games, so I have to keep those installed. In addition with having kids, I have various categories of games I play at different times: 1 that is non-kids-friendly (too gruesome and such), action games for when my brain is K.O., turn based game for when "I'll need to pause repeatedly at unknown times". You can easily get to 20 games installed.
