I recently installed my kickstarted version of Divinity: Original Sin 2, but made the serious mistake of doing so through GOG Galaxy, the piece of software that seldom opens. I have uninstalled, downloaded, reinstalled and confirmed that my installation of Galaxy is entirely up to date, as is my installation of Windows 10; even when I manually run GalaxyClient.exe as an administrator, the Galaxy Client Service process runs, but no windows, or games, can be opened.

This whole situation is nonsense; GOG have released a client long before it was ready, just to try and compete with Steam achievements. That is angering and disappointing.

It might not be ready, but have you (not) noticed™ that they're working on it and it'll all be fixed soon™ and actually ready for optional beta™.

Does that answer your question?

I do not have problems with gog galaxy, so this might be random from computer to computer, but you should do a support ticket instead of forum post as gog will have a better chance to help you.

Yep,do a Support ticket, as suggested. As well, are you getting any kind of error messages? If so, send those to Support as well. I've been trying Galaxy on Win10 for about a month and have no issues with it so far. I'll see if there are any problems with my copy of Divinity: Original Sin 2 (also a kickstarter backer) tonight if I get an opportunity. I'll let you know if I run into issues with it.

Okay, just tested it out: installed via Galaxy and fired up the game without issues. Quit the game, shut down Galaxy, fired up the game and it started without issues (it started Galaxy automatically).

So not sure what the issue is with your setup. Perhaps if you toss Support an e-mail, maybe provide your dxdiag log as well.
