Greetings fellow gamers:

I am sure I am not the only one who loves Linux (use Fedora 26 at the moment), so I was downloading GOG Galaxy to my temporary machine (my sister's machine running Windows 7) and have been converting my GOG games to run under DOSBOX for Linux. I am now confident that Linux is a viable platform for games!

So, I was wondering when I saw a blurb about there being a GOG Galaxy for Linux "coming soon" if anyone knew of a beta version or even alpha that we, as loyal supporters of GOG, could help in the testing of the system?

Please advise.
I wouldn't really count on "soon" part. To be honest, "coming" also seems dubious.

But if you want to download your games, you can simply get them directly through browser. You can extract installers using innoextract, or use a temporary wineprefix to install your games, and in case of most dosbox games, convert them to work using native dosbox.

Galaxy for Linux will ship with the release of Half-Life 3.
Some devs or publishers like Kalypso won't give us their linux ports on gog if it exists no linux-galaxy-client in the future so I hope gog works really on an linux client......

Gog stated very clearfully they don't. But yeah, you're right. Galaxy is becoming mandatory. Many games do not have linux port or miss multiplayers because they rely on Galaxy which is not on Linux (from memory: Zombasite, River City Random, Tooth and Tail, ...). When i see such a disrespect for custumers, i just can't stop thinking GOG's values are just lies.
You could also write your own client. At the page gog.com/galaxy I found this:
10. Can we edit, modify, or tweak GOG Galaxy?

If you like to tinker, feel free to start building your own features or even entire clients compatible with GOG Galaxy, assuming you can figure things out right now. We won't actively work against attempts to improve the GOG Galaxy experience, although we can't promise not to break anything as we continue to develop our own tools and infrastructure.
As much as I dislike Galaxy, I think this sounds pretty good.
