maja_ldm: I'm getting the "essential components missing" error after installing GOG Galaxy on my new computer, I made a new thread because everything listed in last year's one don't seem to fix the problem.

List of previous solutions:
re-installing the Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable
installing Galaxy to C:\Program Files(x86)\GalaxyClient
make sure that "X:\ProgramData\GOG.com" is on the same drive as the installation directory
execute "sc delete GalaxyCommunication" and "sc delete GalaxyClientService" in the Windows console, launch Galaxy
uninstall, execute "sc delete GalaxyCommunication" and "sc delete GalaxyClientService" in the Windows console, re-in stall

In my case, this is the first time I install Galaxy on this computer and I only have one hard drive where everything is located. Also, the services are correctly removed when uninstalling.

Full error: "Essentail components needed to start GOG Galaxy are missing. Please reinstall the application."
Hi maja_ldm,

This could be a problem with either of the services (Galaxy Client Service or Galaxy Communication). After a fresh install - what happens when you run "sc start GalaxyCommunication" and "sc start GalaxyClientService" in the terminal?

Also - could you attach your log files, from C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Logs? They would help.

maja_ldm: Hello DeMignon,
yes I had already installed both to be on the safe side. Thank you

Hello Liosan,
when I ran "sc start GalaxyCommunication" today I had a time expired response, if I'm not wrong this is a first (yesterday it was just successfully deleted), as for "sc start GalaxyClientService" I get a file not found, as uesterday (but if I remember correctly the very first time it got deleted.

The logs are here: ufile . io / a8012
Whoah.

Ok, this is serious. We'll fix this ASAP (we'll try this week).

I can offer you a workaround: open the registry editor (windows key + R, type regedit), go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GOG.com\Galaxy and delete the key "refreshToken". Is this ok for you? I can offer a more detailed workaround if you need it :)
