Its already possible, just goto start, find galaxy, and hit uninstall.
I got only one achievement at all:

"Uninstalled successfully" :)

EDIT:// And received second achievement right now:

"You were Ninja'd"

It really is you know, keeps my machine client free, helps me learn how to use browser downloads and organise files on my machine etc. And I still get a sense of achievement when I complete a game, amazing really this new found technology.

GOG promised that achievements will be completely optional. So far (afair) they are unfortunately only completely off if you just do not use GOG Galaxy. ... I know - it makes Galaxy less useful than it could be. Hope they are working on it (to make achievements optional).

It's the best you have currently I you do not need or want achievements.

Can't you simply ignore them?
At the current moment, GOG Galaxy is still a beta, and the ability to turn features off or on is limited currently. You can only turn on or off the in-game overlay which is probably not really visible since I heard it only shows up on achievements earned. Everything else has no proper off/on toggle yet.

I suggest you to wait. Of course you can always uninstall GOG Galaxy, but by the wording of your post, it seems that you want to stick to GOG Galaxy. Hence why I suggest waiting.

I do it by not using Galaxy. I haven't tried how easy or difficult it is to ignore them by using Galaxy. I guess they will show up as notifications somewhere and as list but not more. So the interference would probably be limited.

Do you enjoy being useless?

You asked a question, I gave an answer. The fact you might not like the response doesn't make it useless. Me I don't use galaxy and I don't have these problems, simple.

I would imagine they are intentionally not allowing achievements and other features to be turned off yet during beta as the entire point of a beta is to test and report issues on the features available, which would happen less if people could turn them off. So why might not see that option until closer to final release.
