Galaxy isnt bad specially for managing patches etc.
1 stupidly annoying ting is that you cant resize the left panel so you just end up with the first par tof the game name and with a few star wars versions etc. its annoying .. :)

I imagine we will have more options eventually...
As much as I love expressing my distaste for Galaxy, I'm afraid beating that dead horse one more time will cause it to explode.
Perhaps you could post your feedback in the GOG Galaxy Beta thread?
It's still in beta. Wait for it to be officially finished . That's your only choice other than not using it altogether .

Once it's released I am sure it will be as flawless and bug-free as the GOG website.
Gawd strueth give it a chance to be developed properly.

The only negative with GOG galaxy is the downloader cant check to see what you've downloaded.

It'll download the same file indefinitely without so much as checking to see if you already have it in the download folder.

the gog downloader used to do this, why Galaxy cant i dont know :(

Yeah, I've noticed that too. I suspect many people have though too including GOG themselves. I have a gut feeling that the current store/library interface and list of installed games is just a first-try mockup which will experience significant redesign over time after they pad out the software with more critical features/functionality. They just needed a placeholder to test with I'm thinking.

Hopefully in the future the list of installed games evolves to have multiple views and lets people choose between them in a manner like some other gaming clients have. For example on Steam there are 4 separate views of how to see your game library, the three main ones - Detail view, with the library of games in small font down the left side with the currently selected game expanded in the content area exclusively, List view which uses a bigger font and larger icon beside it with a columned list showing more information on multiple games at once, then there is Grid view where it just shows much larger game icons for launching the games along with a zoom slider that lets you decide how many games to show on screen at a time, and finally Big Picture Mode which is a completely different user interface designed to be optimized for televisions and controlling the UI via a game controller console-style.

GOG doesn't have to clone that of course, but I'm sure they'll evolve some alternative views over time that more closely meet the diverse set of needs of the userbase, and that what we have right now is just a work in progress with some warts. :)

I know. :) The reason is that they never implemented that yet. It doesn't mean it will never be able to do that. It's a beta, lots of things are missing including many things that are much higher priority and impact on users. They haven't done an update in a while now and have mentioned a big update is coming before long so it is possible such issues will be resolved in the next Galaxy client release. If not, perhaps the one after that or the one after that. Things like this are so obviously a problem that it'd be a strain to think that they wont be fixed at some point IMHO. :)
