You are not alone, my friend. I have a download speed of 280 mbps, and yet I can only get the same as you (it took me all day to download all of the Batman: Arkham games). I realize that I can only pull it as fast as the gog servers can give it, but really...?

EDIT: The above is using Firefox. J just switched to my main computer, which is Linux-based, and downloaded Blacksad using Google Chrome. It downloaded like a bat-outta-hell...!?!

I don't know what is up. I get on steam like my full speed 24mb per second yet on gog i only get under 4mb per second the speed either got slower when the cdn issues appeared or what that was called this summer or the floods are to blame somehow. The speedtest also says i get full speed
What i noticed is i get 18mbps at start which drops fast to under 4mbps and stays there.
Using win 10 and edge browser
The connection is a cable connected to the pc since wifi isn't as fast as cable

It feels like a complete dartboard what CDN deployment is like.

I'm getting several times 0.8-1.2MB/s download speeds, so I don't think it's a UK-wide issue. If your Wi-Fi is only 38mbps, it might be worth testing it via Ethernet (wired) just to rule out Wi-Fi congestion especially if you live in a building / area crowded with a lot of other 2.4GHz only Wi-Fi connections.

Is that a positive or negative thing?

I just tried downloading Mechwarrior 5 with the Edge browser on Windows, and I am getting a healthy 25 MBytes/sec download speed, ie. around 200Mbits/sec if I am correct. Then again I think one of the CDN servers that GOG uses is located 13km away from me, so...

It does sound odd how some GOG users have reported they get much better download speeds when they use VPN to lie GOG where they are, ie. using some other download server than what GOG would normally assign for them. It would be nice to know how and why that happens, how does "GOG" (or rather their CDN provider, I think it is Fastly?) decide which server is used for the download, and why does it seem to choose "wrong" for many people?

are there different servers that serve the Netherlands and the U.K. ? did a couple of downloads yesterday and today. the only thing i can say is, that speeds are nowhere near consistent but also nowhere near kb's.

Mmmm...
yeah... i do know that cable from modem to computer is much better than wifi...
i.e. 300 mbps limit etc... compared to consistent full-speed with cable...

im using windows edge n windows 11 on my gaming laptop and appart from my android phone
nothing else is connected via wifi... and my BT fibre broadband usually around 38-42 MB p/s

i gave-up the Mechwarrior 5 , 599mb update, after it reporting over a day to download...

so... what does GOG have to say... be nice to hear from some-one...
i / we are not expecting GOG to spend money they dont have but explanation is nice...

Where else can you do what GOG offers... it is a great thing... but this issue needs a fix dudes...

as a note... all my other TV, Movies, Music & Game streaming services work fine...

just got Days Gone dudes...
need Death Stranding & Mass Effect Andromida... ?
