Okay, I had everything in Steam set to "Private". But I decided to take advantage of GOG Connect.

I went to my Steam account and set my profile to "Public". But I don't really like having it like that, being a person who greatly values my privacy.

If I now go to my Steam account and set my account to "Private" again, is that going to be a problem in any way? I know that I'd have to again change the privacy setting in order to import more games in the future but I'm fine with that.
No.

I got a response from GOG. It's ok to make it private again. Like you said, you would need to make it public again to import more games later.
Thank you, guys! I appreciate the help!

Just like to point out that I imported a game earlier today, after having reset my profile to Private, so I guess it only needs to be reset back to Public if you add more games on the Steam side.

In other words, when GOG Connect looked at my Steam account earlier, it made a list of my Steam games which it will keep, and will let me import any of these games into my GOG account via GOG Connect without rechecking my Steam account?

So if I get more games that GOG Connect does not know about, it will need to look at my Steam account again before it will let me import the corresponding GOG games into my GOG account via GOG Connect?

Easier to understand than to explain, apparently!

I don't really know how it works, but that seems to be the most logical explanation! :-)
So I went to Steam and also made my steam proflie public but Gog Still can't find any games. Anyone else still having this issue? My steam folder is not on my C drive would that be the issue? IE it can't find steam?

No, It found my Steam folder and it's on my E drive. Give it time. I imagine the service is still pretty slammed.

*edit* It actually doesn't look at your folder anyway, it calls Steam's Web API and gets its info directly from api.steampowered.com

Nah. GOG requests an API code directky from Steam. Your computer doesn't have anything to do with the process.

At the risk of asking a stupid question, do you have any eligible games on Steam that would give you a free copy on GOG?

I had this problem. For me, the solution was to simply leave the Steam profile public for a while and then try again. I think switching it back to private between attempts messes with things somehow.

I think all of the games on offer I have on steam. Not stupid question at all.
I believe it must be GOG because I also have this issue, and here is my steam profile/games link.... set to public, and anyone can view it:
steamcommunity.com.id.stewved.games.?tab=all
can't post links so change dots for slashes
