It's been a while since I was here so maybe this was discussed elsewhere.
The issue is the following:
When I got to my library I want to download the game install files. There are download links, so that's fine, but it appears the file, once downloaded, no longer gets the yellow icon, but the scary blank icon that shows my computer doesn't know how to open it. I've tried with different games, even oldschool one like the classic Broken Sword, and none of them can be opened anymore to commence installation. All I get is a huge file that I can't open. What happened?

I distrust these Galaxy and Gog Downloader tools, so I just wish to download the games the way I used to, and install them without any problems, also the way I used to. The website claims Galaxy is optional, so I hope the problems I'm encountering are not some devious way to make things more difficult and steer me to that Galaxy business against my wishes.

As it stands I've got a library of 500+ games on this website, but I can't install any of them. I really hope this can be resolved easily.

I tried contacting support but it's the weekend and I'm hoping for a quick reply, hence my post here.

You can still download the version without any Galaxy client. When you go to download a game you have to double-check to see if it is the Galaxy or Classic Installer version first on the main page. If it says "Classic Game Installers" it is the same as before. If not, and it says "GOG Downloader Links" you have to go under the "More" button and go down to the "Classic Game Installers" option to get the Classic Installer version.

Yes, this has been discussed before, but if it's been a while it is understandable about the situation.
