By the way, I wanted to say that my own Defender's Quest code expires on 30 December 2014.

samlii: Just a reminder Ring Runner: Flight of the Sages is expiring Soon.

In case you wanted it: ONDYKKNA

For Ring Runner you can thank me
Gift order completed successfully

BlackThorny, your order was completed successfully and gift code *CENSURED* containing the following products, together with redeem instructions, were sent to *CENSURED*.

Ring Runner: Flight of the Sages

So... Did I actually prolonged the bundle code by turning it into a regular gift code? If this works it could clear all expiration issues!

edit: Of course I thank you samlii! :) But I would rather send you the new code in pm for you to make sure it doesn't expire (as I don't think I'll have the time to recheck it every day to see if its still valid).

Cheers samlii for maintaining and updating this thread, as well as to all who contribute with vital info. :-)

Also +1 for Ring Runner, though not taking. ;-)

I had the thread open from before you posted. Either way, I'm not taking it whether you prolonged its expiration or not. How many characters is the code now? And why can't you just put it into the redeem page and check what happens?

Long story short - I'm not sure I follow. :-)

Long story short - I'm not sure I follow. :-)
1. The code is now a regular 20 digits (in 4 parts) code, and is also attached to my Gifts tab as a gifted code.
- I also got a receipt for this "purchase" in my email just like a regular purchase, which makes me think this made it "official"
- Hmm, I see now my older gifts are only 16 digits (in 4 parts).
2. I'm sure I can place it in my redeem and see it works NOW, but I'm unsure weather it will work past the original expiration date.
- I'm unsure because I don't know how the codes that did have expiration dates worked before, I only know Fallout codes stopped working after a certain date and trying to redeem them pat it gives an explanation why, but did it say something prior to that date?
- Due to this, I would rather the code be in safe hands that will retry it several times over the couple of days to see if it will indeed stay redeemable... and I doubt I'll have the time to pursue this myself. In order to clear any ambiguity I rather the code will be lost (due to expiration while trying to check every day if it does expire), while I'm fully aware it expired, rather then have it ready at my account only to realize it died on me unknowingly some time ago without clarification.

Also, as my post said earlier, if this endeavor does prove working in general, this is the best thing in terms of bundle keys - As you can turn those into your own gift codes :)

I suppose that the code attached to your gifts doesn't say "redeemed" or something, right? Suppose it doesn't, when you try to redeem it, the code will mention whether it expires or not. If it doesn't expire, it will say "Never", otherwise it will show the expiration date.

As for the Fallout codes, the reason they expired was because GOG was forced to expire them thanks to massive abuse.

This is very interesting if it indeed works this way in general.

What I meant with checking the code on the redeem page was to check what expiration date it gives you, if any at all, now that it transformed into a regular 20 character code. You can safely check this without redeeming the code.

Too bad I don't have a promotional code for a game I don't own to run a test myself. Perhaps others can chime in on this.

OUR CODE I WANT TO REDEEM IT AS BlackThorny

Got a code to use on GOG.com? Enter it below and you will see what it is and what does it give you. Don't worry, clicking continue will not render the code as used yet - you will just see all the details before making final decision to redeem it.
*censored*
Expires:
NEVER
Details:
CLAIM 1 ITEM GIFTED TO YOU
CODE CONTENTS GIFTED BY BlackThorny
1 OF 1 ITEMS SELECTED
RING RUNNER: FLIGHT OF THE SAGES

So this means it never expires?
Also, I never actually saw a code that say an expiration date, how can you tell so from the code itself prior to trying?

It does indeed mean that it never expires. Nice! You wouldn't know the date unless the bundle/source states it. You always have to go to the redeem screen to see it for this kind of keys.

If it says "Never", then it will indeed never expire. Below, I have attached a picture of my attempt to redeem Defender's Quest to show you how a code with an expiration date looks like. And yes, you can't know when/if a code will expire without trying to redeem it.

I see it is a short code, have you ever seen a long code with an expiration date (other then the fallout ones)?
Did you try to redeem it? when I tried to redeem ring runner it immediately offered me a screen with an option to select to gift it, even though I don't own the game. Maybe it will work the same for people owning the game too.

The Fallout codes didn't have an expiration date; GOG just made them invalid. At any rate, no, I haven't seen a long code with an expiration date; only those with 8 digits. I have redeemed 8 digit codes in the past (MegaRace 1+2, Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav and Realms of Arkania 1+2) and they were redeemed just like any other code, but I suppose that something must have changed after the redesign.

I think they added a cool feature: Re-Gifting1 :)
I asked Yuri about it in the past and he replied it wasn't possible, but maybe It is now - I wonder if it will work for regular codes as well.

When you redeem a promotional code now, after you click the redeem button, it takes you to another screen where it says something about it costing you nth and does indeed have an option to gift it instead of completing your order (or something along this line).
I think it needs to be a code for a single game though, and of course to not own it.
