Question for all you goglodytes. Is there a technical term of "God's-eye View" in gaming?

I like to sort my games right down through genres and play types, down to how they appear on screen.
First Person and Third Person are easy
Side-scrolling kind of explains itself.
But then there are the top down games.

Fallout and Diablo and so on come under Isometric 3D or Isometric Third Person for me, since the camera is held at a fixed position, but what about the games like Dungeon Siege or NWN, where the camera can be moved in and out, spun around and so on?

God's-eye View just sounds so clunky.

I am toying with Omniocular (as in, sees everything), but Google reminded me that that was a term used in Harry Potter, so now if at all possible I am trying to distance myself from that experience, though I do think it is possibly the most accurate description so far.

So, how would you describe the view for games where you can control the camera and see all around the main character or group?

Fun aside, I love the German term for First Person Shooters - Ego Shooter. Describes my online deathmatch experience in FPS games perfectly. That is, my ego gets shot all to hell!

Top-down ?
Eagle-eye view?
Moveable third-person camera?
Non-fixed third-person camera?

What about games like Skyrim, in which you can switch between 1st and third?
first-person/third-person toggleable?
first-person/third-person hybrid?

What about games like the older Tomb Raiders, with multiple fixed cameras?

These I tend to name after the category I generally play them in. So Skyrim woul be First Person for me.

Those I have a category for.

Fuxed-eye View.

Orbital camera for nwn, and I dunno ... free flight camera for things like Myth ?

When I think of Orbital I think of Satellite views. Can you imagine trying to play a game like that? :P

Oh I can't see my troops, but I can see the outline of Italy!
I do overthink these things, I know.

Just realised in my slight OCD way that I'd have to account for Player Oriented vs Non-fixed as well. RTS games let you move the camera whereever you want, but many others fix around the main player or at least the focused player.

Top Down specifically , for me at least, means vertical view, like the old Dune 2.

Usually in camera moves, orbit camera right is kind of the opposite of turn camera right. Very important control move when playing Myth for instance.
Linking orbits directly to satellites is you having made to much Starwars lately ;-p
Overseer? Omniscient?

Overseer has similar implications in my mind to God's-Eye View, only a little more mortal Something like a Turn-Based Strategy where you're able to move and look around, directing troops.

Omniscient is a term I mostly encounter in writing (third-person omniscent -- you see everything and can jump from character to character). Omniocular probably comes from the same or similar word root, and would be the closest you can get I think.

Birdeye view is probably the more technical term for it.

I thought that was the ability to see a great final product that no one else can see and will never materialise, but the dream of which can be sold to everyone.

I think I like this one the best, albeit written as Bird's-eye View. Still, marked as the solution. Thanks!
