Congrats on the win Breja and thank you for the opportunity Chevkoch.
Hello everyone!

Congratulation to you, Breja!
And thank you for this nostalgic trip down memory lane, chevkoch!

It is amazing what interesting and creative themes those generous hosts as chevkoch (among others) do come up with.
I appreciated all the fantastic suggestions from everyone, no matter who won the giveaway.

Hopefully, until next opportunity.

Kind regards,
foxgog

matterbandit: Time to wrap up this thread into a memorable trapezoidal game box and add it to our bookshelf, along with all the other inspiring community giveaways. xD
Haha, right, everything seems better from here on out if it's trapezoidal :)

Cavalary: #3 here?

Edit: Woops, again didn't check the next replies. Ah well, at least there are more in that link, so leaving it here.
Sweet, there's a whole bunch of those. For some of them I wonder if many found them appealing at all.
I don't believe anyone mentioned the series of Lucozade ads starring Lara Croft. Here's one of my favorites:

slurredprey: I know the giveaway is over, but for me it would be the Sonic ad about him having blue piss. Not sure if it's real but damn cool. Can't find it though.

chevkoch: This one?

chevkoch: I remember that commercial. Found this reddit thread where they talk about how the face altering technically could've been done back then.
the model herself was shocked and found it disturbing to look at. I knew someone looking a bit like alien-like in real life though.
I was looking for some of the old Wipeout adverts after one of the people connected to it died.

There were a few more like during the "edgy" late 90s advertising period.
I appreciate you're still posting stuff although the giveaway is done.

Mortal Kombat
Congrats, Breja!

And since someone mentioned the first Witcher intro: Yes, that was also a very memorable movie, but strictly speaking not an ad.

And when we talk about the Witcher we should also not forget to mention the intro of Witcher 2 as well as this trailer for Witcher 3.
Hello everyone again!

Since bluethief started the next time travel thread for the year 2000, it reminded me of another memorable and very intriguing advertisement. It caused me to ask a friend in Canada to get me a copy for he was going to visit me and colleagues in Europe in a couple of months later, but the game was only released in the North America.

Does anyone remember the promotion for the first realtime 3D rendition of Myst?
"I can write dreams. [...] when I touch them, they are real... And they are real!"

"realMYST" trailer

Have fun!

Kind regards,
foxgog

[Edit: Oh, sorry for the low image quality of the video. I could not find a better one.]

foxgog: Myst
The calm voiceover and atmosphere, so inviting.
Quast discovering those weird Quake ads, I don't think we saw them in my country

Ah, look at those innocent faces...

Here's one "meaty" Quake II ad.
Here's another one. And I'm sure many are already aware of this, but Dawn of War cinematic trailer was so good and gritty that it convinced me to buy the game. Honestly, since it is a cinematic trailer, it still lives up to the level of today's game trailers. Only difference is, games back then had the gameplay to back their trailers. (Not saying all today's games are bad)

Here's the link to the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBgXH7eyRo4
