I had to reinstall windows and after reinstalling my games, the ones i want to play bad arent opening and have an error message. The games in question are Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri Planetary Pack and Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds if that makes any difference. does anyone know what i need to do to get them to work properly?

We need more info: what OS? What are the error messages you're getting? What's your hardware?

Assuming you're on Windows 10, do install DirectPlay as well.

Yes Windows 10. DirectPlay does or doesn't come included with the game files? The error code is 0x0000022

DirectPlay is an OS feature. Press start, find "Turn Windows Features on or off" and under "Legacy Components" it should have "DirectPlay". Enable it and see if that fixes your problems.

GBS is one of my favorite games ever and I just went to W10 so I'll be curious to know what happens here.

Which part wasn't fixed? Did the remaining games install properly and just don't start? Or did you get an error when re-installing them? The latter case occurred on my system because Avast kept interfering with the GOG installation files.

Alpha Centauri works, but Alien Crossfire doesnt do anything. It doesnt even give me an error, just nothing. I got rid of Avast.
You can try running it in compatibility mode + giving it administrator permissions.
Also if you get any errors please write them down here.

Did you re-install Alien Crossfire after replacing Avast? In my case that helped (I replaced Avast with Avira).

Did you check your files for data corruption? If you had to reinstall Windows, it might be because your PC is experiencing "bitrot". If you need it, I can give you a MultiPar par2 file so you can tell me if any of the blocks are damaged or missing. Let me know if errors are detected, then I can give you a recovery file for as many blocks as you need, so you won't need to keep downloading it over and over until you get lucky with a copy that doesn't have any errors.
