I am looking to purchase these games during the GOG sale and was wondering if any of these would work on the steam deck. I have heard of downloading heroic launcher and transferring the games that way.

Are there other/better options for this? Or, does anyone here personally own any of these games and play them on their steam deck?

Most of these games are point and click, puzzle, story driven games

Any help would be appreciated.

I would look up each game first on Steam and see if they say it is compatible with Steam Deck or not. For example, chosing two games on random

Harvester - is playable, but have some compatability problems, most important that it does not support the native display resolution.

Postal 2 - verified, no issues

Thanks. I kind of figured I would have to go through each individually. I was looking some up on protonDB and a majority of them at this point, I have not found.
ProtonDB is a good resource for this as it is a database that people log data of there experiences running games in Proton Wine so you can get an idea of how what the chances of it running are and also includes tweaks that users have used to help it run.

These are for the Steam versions of the game but I have found all tweaks do work if you use other launchers like Lutris or Heroic or us command line.

I will caution though that not all games you listed are on Protondb, that doesn't mean they won't work it's just no one has uploaded any data for them.

I have checked a good portion of my list on ProtonDB and have not found any of them listed. I'm assuming because most of my list is full of old obscure point and click/puzzle type games

You can also check Scummvm to see if any of the adventure games are compatible, is so you can use that as a wrapper.

You can use Lutris or Heroic to get the games from your account, then honestly you have a lot of choices in how to run them.

1. Run them straight from Lutris/Heroic to see how performance is and make tweaks if they don't run. Both are pretty good at making it easy to change which version of Wine or Proton you are using (Lutris likes to use there own custom branches while Heroic lets you pick any that are installed).

2. If they don't work or you don't get good performance than you can install Scummvm and then link your games into that.

Some Adventure games on GOG already use Scummvm by default so be best to hceck on what wrapper is being used on the GOG version.

Once you find a method that works you can then setup the shortcut too the app in Steam as a non-steam game.

I haven't really used the program Bottles myself but it seems to be a good alternative but it would require some research.

Thank you for all the information. I appreciate it.
