Dear diary,

today i discovered yet another form of peace within myself previously unthinkeable. what was the case you might wonder dear diary, well..... " let me share with you " today, after being frustrated with system usage in many modern games, even with my almost 2 year old system, and total war three kingdoms as example of today i found peace by switching from HD, which uses 1920 x 1080 pixels in a screen to 1600 x 900 guided by integer scaling!!!

You won't belief what happenend dear diary,
in the campaign map where, if set to everything ultra would mean my card would shoot in its turbo mode asking 100% and maybe somewhat more now it just ham ( short for humned ) at an easy 30% with just a couple of minor glitches here and there

I feel so proud today dear diary with the improvement i can show to my loved ones, feeling both green and mean at the same time...

as long as my eyesight stays true this is certainly recommendable for the coming years, so dear diary are you not feeling proud of your writer?

Now i'm off since there are many more games, especially control and rtx to try out

yours sincerely

Radi

after some intensive testing i draw back my previous conclusion and now will add the 1650 x 1080 as my new holy grail for any triple A title

TBh i'm happy if I can get a game running decently(Like I did with the new Prey as of late) at any resolution above 1024x768.

I merely meant I am happy as long as I can play at a decent resolution...of course that aside my gpu is actually average at best anyhoo.

(Sidenote: Also my screen only goes up to 1366x768 anyways)

As for GPU upgrades, that's impossible on this laptop, but what I got seems to work good enough(playing Prey 2017 on medium settings).

I know 2070's and 2080's also come in boxed form to be used with a laptop but, really .. i have no clue for which audience that is intended ... traveling competitive gamers maybe? i'm not sure

As long as it works for you i won't hold anything against it ;)
Instead of resolution, what about going first for video effects (like bloom chromatic aberration, glow, haze, etc), then shadows, then dynamic lightning.

personal taste, in three kingdoms for example i can run 1920 x 1080 on low settings and have about just as much system usage as i have on 1680 x 1050 ultra settings on the campaign map where i spend most of my time in that game.
the special effects from certainly shadows and SSAO can't be high enough for my taste and with the normal distance i'm sitting in front of my 27 inch monitor the projection actually looks a lot better then on full screen. I have now acces to the whole view without having to move my head for whatever reason.

I also tried both 1400x900, 1600 x 900 and 1680 x 1050 in mass effect andromeda and control which are games i play with the controller increasing the distance i have to the screen and even there the 16:10 size seems to favorable both in the reduction in system usage this setting produces as in screen enjoyement both graphical and practical

don't get me wrong i can play all of these games on 1920 x 1080 on ultra too but that means loud spinning fans and an electrical bill that might be three times as high at the end of the year... me don't like that
