Too much gaming is now considered a mental condition:

Of course that's console gaming. Not us PC purists.
Technically everything is a mental condition, unless you know someone who does things without using their brain. Please leave the political quips at the door thank you! ::P

I read that article as well. If you speak to some of the teenagers around me you would already know something is wrong. All they want to do is play games, not go outside and hike, ride bikes, exercise, fish, etc..

Gaming can be addicting just like many other things in life that give people an escape from the tough times of life.

As far as insane, not likely.

Not likely, but evidently very possible.

I was going to expand on it with the "our prices are insane!" guy from the 80's but got busy with something else.

Interesting article about this:
https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/vdpwga/video-game-addiction-is-destroying-american-lives-456

And yes, while I play video games myself, I actually do believe this exists, and it is a problem.

Once again problem is being solved from wrong end or blame is being put on vidya gamez for sake of "normality".
Nothing new here, moving on.
high rated
Isn't "too much" of anything a problem by definition?
'Murica is really going nuts with all the "mental conditions". And, of course, they will have a handful of pills that will treat the "condition". I find it kinda interesting that they have a problem with people playing video games, being mad, crying from time to time, but walking around like a zombie, high on pills, perfectly fine.

I don't deny the fact that games can be addictive, and I know that are people that are suffering from mental conditions that can be classified as "gaming addiction", but I bet that the definitions will be made in a way that almost everyone will suffer from it, how is the case with depression.

So? What if they would find more joy in playing chess or reading? Would you still consider their passions abnormal? These activities are as "harmful" as playing video games.

I was going to counter you but I can't think of one thing that can't be overdone.
Well, does it at least come with certain benefits, like prescription-only medicine, hmm?

Even if you find something, that will mean you can't have "too much" of it. So it will not apply.
I am an alcoholic. When I quit drinking I picked up gaming to make up for the alcohol. Now a lot of people say this is pathetic because all I did was exchange one habit for another, which is true BUT.....

I never woke up in a strange place because I was playing StarCraft.

I never woke up covered in my own vomit because I was playing Witcher.

I never had to ask someone "What the hell happened last night?" because I was playing Diablo.

AND, I never had a cop pull me over, smell my breath and ask, "Sir, have you been playing Doom tonight?"

Roasts can be over done....
Acting can be over done...
Thinking can be over done....
Should I go on?

That's what I meant. EVERYTHING can be over done. EVERYTHING.
