Ugh. Pass. The way they fucked up GoT instills me with zero confidence.
At this rate, I expect Martin to croak before he ever finishes the books, considering how sidetracked he gets with all the other projects he's involved in. It's only been a decade since the last one. Not sure I'll have any interest left if Winds of Winter ever gets published.

I remember my GF telling me. "Game of thrones is great, until this guy dies, and this guy and this guy that you liked so you only have all the assholes"
Add on the changes made due to sex & character age reasons from the books... (Which apparently Netflix would have loved to do now after cuties...)
Yeah no thanks.

Oh good, more joyless, grey-brown "fantasy". I definitely won't. I barely finished A Dance with Dragons, and by the time I did I pretty much lost all patience for and interest in the series. The first book was a good, brisk read and I feel like it was the momentum from that alone that carried me through the rest of the series, which only kept getting more plodding, meandering and just bad as it went on.

I found the second and third better. All the first three are awesome, but imho the first suffers from the usual issues of the beginning of a fantasy epic, rather impossible to balance worldbuilding and action at that point in a way not leaving one side wanting. After the third, he made a clear choice to focus on worldbuilding, and the books are great if you just take them for what they are and not look for thrills and much action. After all, books 4 and 5 weren't part of the original plan. Whether 6 will be different, if it'll ever come out, remains to be seen, but with the TV series having come and gone, any book releases will either be rather pointless to read because it's all already known or feel wrong because of the differences. Well, except the one covering the final season of the TV series, I hope, since I most definitely hope THAT will be different!
