Narushima: There's nothing modest about that.

You don't need video games, consumer.
Both of course are totally subjective.

There are many things in our lives that subjectively we don't need.
Except that our lives are much poorer without them.
And such a poor life is often not a good one.
There are many things that contribute to a healthier and happier life.
And humans of course, aren't robots or machines ... though some for sure certainly think and behave like they think they are.

So in the end, what you need is what you need, as you feel it.
You are who you are and not someone else.
We are all individually different and have different needs and requirements to get the most out of our life.

Judge not, as they say, lest you be judged. :)
I was in a similar position.
Now I buy only games I intend to play "right here, right now". That got me out of the backlog issue, I'm a free man with nearly no new games to play! XD
Heck, this year I even had several second runs of my favorites!

This is not a judgement. You do not need video games. That is the objective truth, not your weak "everybody is valid, and you can't judge!"

Like I inferred, you can speak only for yourself.
So subjective rather than objective.
You don't know what another may need or the reason for that need.
There are many different types of needs out there.
So yes you are making a judgment based on how you see things ... within the limits of your understanding.
