timppu: The car dealer or the grocery store keeper don't care about me either, but I still buy cars and food. Then again, I don't really care about the car dealer or the grocery store keeper either, so it kinda evens out.

So what is your point? Should the car dealer be sexually attracted to me and give me a blowjob, before I should buy a car from him/her/it? And vice versa?
How much control does the grocer have over your peas after you've made a soup out of them?

I think you can eat it just fine, it's all yours. Unless it's mouldy, but then you can probably get a new bag of peas, and it usually doesn't matter to you much that they're not literally the same peas you had before. They'll be just as good if not better.

Games and software are kinda different.

Car dealers need not be involved in your driving or car maintenance either but I'd say it's fair to call out a car manufacturer that takes your money, runs with it, and leaves you with a car for which there is no spare parts, support or servicing available. No service manual either. GLFH.

clarry: This is a recurring thought. One of these days I should just stop buying games altogether..

I'd buy that for a dollar, haha!

The bank account is always the goal in business. When you work for a company, they push on the employees on "customer service", but that is always to increase profit. Some just do a better job than others.
Most developers (or creators in general) care about what they're making, and since they're trying to make it enjoyable, they care about their audience liking their creation.

Publishers and distributors care about making a profit on a product, and therefore care about making things easier for their audience.

Sure, they might not personally care about anyone specific in particular from their audience, but why is that the issue?

Who cares (other than Faith No More)?

Every time I blink, everything disappears anyway.

Actually, developers/publishers care a lot about what "people" like/think. How else are they going to sell their game to as many people as possible?

Can't agree with you 100%, but can't disagree 100% either. EA, Ubisoft and 2000s' LucasArts spring to mind.
"People trying to provide things to you in exchange for money are usually only interested in your money."
Shocker.

They don't just care. They care a lot.

I'd like to think I have some amount of care for my customers. To the extent, anyway, that I'm happy when they're finding success and feel a touch of sadness when a customer business closes or somebody I've personally worked with passes away..

But there is certainly a limit. I care that customers are happy with the stuff I provide to them, but beyond making conversation it doesn't really get deeply personal. Not intentionally, anyway. You might be surprised what I hear from perfect strangers when I make onsite visits.
Oh, pish.

They care about their customers. All businesses do. To the degree that if you're unhappy, you represent lost sales in the form of negative advertising. So if you hit them with some asinine, outrageous request, they have to measure the amount of utility gained by acquiescing vs the negative utility of refusing.

There's nothing wrong with that.

Thanks for that! I was wondering about it!
Some days I can't help but think all these businessmen started businesses with the sole intention of making money, but that can't possibly be true. Can it?

Wouldn't it be nice?
Sometimes I feel they don't even truly know me.
"Game developers don't really care about you." Hookers don't either, (no matter how much you pay them), what's your point?
omg what?!
