wut is teh largest misrepresentation or divide of fair lee common animals in gamies (ie naht pink fairy armadillo)? so liek dogs will vary between faithful companions or feral, rabid death-hounds with lil inbetween

ocean-life is either tranquil as you explore teh waters leisure lee, or complete lee dead lee, teethy, stingy pew-fests

etcetc

wut is teh most unrepresented common animal? i feels cats need moar air-tiem. wut is teh most ovah-represented? i guesses dogs again, tho i dont kno, animals ebb 'n' flow in popular culture. in teh kids/education field i kno owls were a big thang for a while, an' nao mebbe foxes. hate owls

Salamanders? I've only seen them in games as fire-based enemy creatures out to kill your party, when reality is mostly that they're small, striped or spotted amphibians who couldn't set alight a puddle of gasoline.

In certain Kirby games you can get help from fish n stuff, that was fun.
I forgot which DK country, but one of them you rode the animals, the other one you ARE the animal.
I'm partial to the spider and its platform webs.

As for non traditional 'animal's, any smt game. The designs are great.

And of course Pokemon. specifically, Mareep. And Wartortle. But Mareep tho.

edit: Most misrepresented are Squirrels in Konker's. Squirrels don't get wasted and piss themselves. Konker do.

My cat's opinion on this matter.
Bats.
Swans.
Hamster.

Honestly, I just like having any sort of companion animal in games, Dog, Cat, Caribou, I don't care. I think I had a lion in Pillars of Eternity. Grow Home has the cutest sheep, but they're just kinda there.

Honourable mention to the old Tomb Raider games in which Lara Croft shoots everything that moves, including probably endangered species of tigers and T-Rex...es, without ever giving a damn.

Well, salamanders are pretty well represented across many cultures as creatures of myth and legend and if you play any amount of games with a fantasy theme, you are probably going to run into them.

I heard last weekend that the name "salamander" applied to the mythical creature before it was applied to the actual amphibian.
I like Pangolins.

I've never seen an animal version in game, but Breath of Fire 2 had an anthropomorphic one called Rand.

I believe that is true and that I have also heard it. If I remember correctly, in ancient times, a "salamander" was any creature able to survive in fire.

Fun fact, there are 2 pieces of job equipment (that I know of) with the name "salamander". One is in a restaurant kitchen, the other is on a construction site. The only reason I know this is that I have worked both types of jobs.

Also: the fire engines in "Fahrenheit 451" are called salamanders.
