tinyE: I spent all day playing Terraria, got a mega fortress, great weapons, but I'm screwed because I can't find any hearts. XD
I been wanting to play Terraria again but I've not felt like sitting in front of my PC to play lately. Thankfully they just announced controller support will be in the next patch so I'm waiting for that so I can play from my couch. Lol

I got lucky and found a few hearts over Christmas when I was doing the xmas event.

Honestly, I think that adding things like XP to something like Galaxy makes things too complicated. If we keep adding things like this, we'll end up with the mess that is Steam with things like trading cards. Um, I would like to actually focus on playing the games how *I* want to play them, not worry about client features.

Also, every feature that is added to a program (like Galaxy) is another potential source of bugs. When it comes to adding a feature, it is necessary to weigh the benefit of the feature against the risk of bugs and the effort to maintain the feature over the years. Some features (like rollback) are worth the effort; adding XP to the client is not.

Nobody talked about Steam trading cards, and you can still focus on the game, that argument makes no sense.

Maverick89: Uplay has a level system where you gain xp by getting achievements, Galaxy could make something like that, gaining xp by buying games, ahcievements, playtime. It's not some major feature but it would be nice.
avatar
BKGaming: The forum is full of people who don't care for achievements and client software so you going to get flamed for this for no reason. The rest of us are enjoying Galaxy and these features to much to care.

I agree with you though, some kind of level up system would be nice. I've always preferred how Xbox and PS handle achievements, I actually like PS's level system and platinum trophies a little more.

Engerek01: I am not against it but seeing how even forum reputation system can cause problems with people, i dont see "need" for it. I only know Steam's level system where i was level 5 even if i had 500 games and my votings didnt count. I actually had to play random games in order to gain level. I am a collector, not a player.

BKGaming: That I don't agree with. The PlayStation level system was nice it was more like a RPG game within itself. I would like to see something like that. Each trophy made your level go up but it got harder the more levels you went up.
It's just an idea but the forum is full of internet warriors #facepalm.

Ideas and individual thought are pretty dangerous around here. Experience has taught me harshly.

Maverick89: snip
GOG users are very against what Galaxy or GOG "needs". They want the most minimal, basic functioning thing possible and anything else is "too much like Steam". So anything that seems fun or cool, forget about it at GOG.
What are internet warriors?

Jesus, does anyone speak English anymore!? XD

Fixed that for you.
I've never really understood the point of the achievements - seems like it's just a reminder that I did something in a game.

Having an experience points / leveling system based on the achievements seems even more pointless.
I am mad. I think they should first Fix Galaxy to make it run properly before implementing other ideas. I was talking to someone here on Galaxy chat. He stopped responding. After 40 minutes i checked web and saw the messages he sent me from web and Galaxy still wasnt showing them. They started without me. First and last time I am trusting Galaxy about anything.
Nah. Achievements are one thing, digital ego contests are sad and pathetic.

Ed: I see others have stated my thoughts in the less subtle manner I had considered originally.

Isn't the satisfied look you have on your face when you look at your game shelf / collection enough for you... do you really need to show everyone the massive boner you got from buying your latest game. /sarcasm

It's a sad day in the GOG community when Tauto is the voice of reason in the thread. Damn.
We don't need those. I don't even need achievements...
