Hi,

I'm installing GOG Galaxy Client beta 1.0.7.2023 on a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro.

After installation of the client I launch it for the first time (which seems to take a LOT longer than it did prior to my OS reinstall) I sign in and open settings to adjust the game install location etc.

If I then exit the client and then open it again, I have to log in again and the previously configured settings have not saved.

Additionally, because I can't adjust settings, I can't restore backed up games.

I've completely removed all references to Galaxy after uninstalling including services, registry entries and program file remnants in Program Files x86, ProgramData and Common Files (in both). Rebooted.

However, despite that and installing it again, the same issue occurs.

There are no entries showing errors in Event Viewer.

It seems like you have no access to system registry where settings are stored. Could you try starting Galaxy as administrator?

Hi, that was one of the very first things I tried.

I'm going to try to install again and see if the services galaxyclient and galaxycommunication have the necessary permissions for the account they use.
Hmm.. Some antivirus software perhaps? Sandbox?
Could you check if paths are saved in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GOG.com\GalaxyClient\settings after setting up Galaxy?
I'm not really familiar with Windows 10, might be something in the system..

I've been having the same issue, and I tried the "Run as Administrator" option, setting the compatibility of GalaxyClient.exe to "Windows 7", uninstalling and reinstalling, and even duplicating the GOG.com node to HKLM\SOFTWARE, without any success.

Just undid all that, and checked the permissions on the HKLM\SW\Wow6432Node\Gog.com\settings folder node, the only users with permissions to write to it are "SYSTEM" and "Administrators". It wasn't until I gave the "Users" group write permission, that the settings are being stored properly.

May I make a suggestion, to alleviate this issue? Maybe store the settings in the C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy folder, or %appdata%\GOG.com\Galaxy, rather than, or in addition to, the registry? That way, you SHOULD always have permission to read & write to the configuration data.

Well, I kinda noticed you didn't have the "badge" that the GOG.com people usually do... ;)

Feel free, if you want, I've been perusing the bug tracker, to see if maybe something like this hasn't already been documented, haven't gotten very far, tho. If I don't find it listed there, I'll probably put something up Monday night, when I get back from a family reunion.

@WastedJoker: I hope my suggestion works for you, too (the changing registry permission, not that you could do the rest).

Have a great weekend, everyone!
