Build your own universe, then sail through it with the ship you designed.

Map Pack and the Builder's Kit, two arts-and-crafts DLC for Galactic Civilizations III are now free to download for all owners of the base game.

Start by getting things ship-shape: dig into the Builder's Kit and experiment with the dozens upon dozens of parts that will give your trusty ship the fin or cockpit you desire. Then launch it upon a custom made universe, created with the Map Pack, or use one of the 8 pre-made ones, designed to accommodate both small-scale and expansive conquests.

jorlin: I'll bide my time until you release a *complete* edition, including all non-cosmetic DLC.
You'll be waiting a VERY long time then. I believe the current roadmap is set thru 2019 and I think they plan on 7 years of support via DLC and stuff.

Thank you for pointing that out. In that case I won't buy the game at all.

I didn't bought the last DLC because I was already sick of them...Stardock is really disappointing /:

I think it may depend. I doubt that it's in the plan to give away these DLC (though they aren't the most important ones) for free. Might be because sales are beginning to dip.

I dunno. I just want to get back more value for my $99 than it costs in DLC ($250 was caculated over 7 years including a few expansions and 4 DLC a year @$4.99). Might also be because their new game is causing problems that they need more manpower to solve...
What do you mean they go free?! We had them dead to rights on murder one! Forensics, witness testimonies, everything! Who paid you off?!

Yay I guess. After I'd bought them as part of the latest dlc pack elsewhere.
I liked the previous titles, but I'm not buying this one. I do not buy games with tons of DLC. DLC are first and foremost a way to make more money. On top of that they are a hassle because you have to install all of them separately. DLCs are anti-consumer and thus I'm not supporting companies that use them excessively. One expansion/DLC, a while after the full game was released is fine by me (Darkest Dungeon). Cosmetic DLC I usually don't care about (Crypt of the Necrodancer sountrack DLCs).
What I am not buying are small pieces of the game that have been split off and are being sold separately to make more money. Typically any game with more than one or two DLCs is a no-go, except if it's all finished and sold in a bundle at a fair price.

This game has ten non-cosmetic DLCs, adding a whooping 54 Euro to a 30 Euro game. A game where, according to the revies, it seems it's questionable whether it's even worth the 30 Euros. Keep your game, there are plenty others.

Bundle it all up, sell it for 30 Euros and I might get it at a sale.

This is the reason why I almost only buy old games.

I miss the times when you paid once for a game and you got the full game. And expansions expanded the game with content that had not been withheld from the vanilla release.
I'm still waiting for the Complete version of the game... so probably in 5 years or so I'll get it.
Hell, I want GalCiv on Linux!
I think I bought this on sale a while back. It was a complete mistake since the game is terrible when compared to Stellaris or other space 4x games. Games that continually update content for the initial cost of the game and didn't withhold content to sell it later.
Would have been nice (and good PR) to offer those who already purchased these DLCs a 50% discount on Crusade or a voucher/code/whatever to get the next DLC free of charge.

In that case they should focus more on the base game instead of branching out and churning out DLC packages.
If you build your house on quicksand, your house will still sink, especially with added horse armor.

"But it looks pretty, just look how it shines on my hous...(blub, blub, .oO*)." ...And he was never heard of again...

based on a interview, there's a new patch and DLC adding in a civilization/Dead Lords this month if everything goes well. Next expansion deals with politics and stuff. That was from a interview you can see via the launcher. I have not visiited the forums to find out details
