Guys, I have a suggestion. Knowing that this kind of "giveaway" doesn't take place often, I believe it would be a good idea to fill in those gaps with just some friendly art competitions where everyone could submit their artworks for other GOG users to see. What do you guys think?

zeogold: The competition is more about seeing/honoring the neat art that the community produces than the prizes. really.
avatar
Klumpen0815: Exactly.
Your Waltz would actually fit in an inn in a game. Quite calming.
avatar
NoNewTaleToTell: Well I did say I was out of the actual giveaway, not that I was out of the competition :D

Vote for me dangit! FEEEEEEED MYYYY EGOOOOOOO :P
Your music made me uncomfortable does that help? :P
Sounds kind of distorted.

Goodaltgamer: For originality/honour-ability and his commitment for such a special instrument: Klumpen0815. It really takes some courage to stand to this (all meant in the most positive way ;) and I did enjoy the waltz.
Thanks! Well, my first instrument (12 years ago) were scottish bagpipes and I've been playing the hurdy-gurdy for nearly 10 years now, so I'm kind of used to that. ^^ I seldomly had as much fun as I have most of the time with the hammered-dulcimer though.

Thank you (and all the others that liked it here).
In fact, I tried to get into making game soundtracks with my many folk instruments at some point but unfortunately most indies prefer electronic (or eletronically made) music even for medieval, stone age etc... themes.
If anyone is interested, I'm still game.

A lot of my stuff is drone-y which tends to fit better as a horror film/game's soundtrack than anything else, I suppose. Still, I wasn't trying to head in that direction with the two newest songs, oh well, old dogs and such haha.

Thanks for listening to it :)

^^ maybe because of that (that's at least what one drummer told me) ;)

Sounds stupid, but it is easier to record, sample and change. And quite often you just need one person to do the music and not an orchestra ;)
(Why easy) lot's of those keyboards have a build in recording possibility)
Bump

Come on people have a look (hear) at the art of some of our members!
And don't forget to vote!
Oh hey, after saying I would spam the thread I forgot about this. I got pretty busy last month, but still got a lot of drawings done.

I wouldn't have been in for any prizes anyway, but here's some of my favourite drawings I did.

Rocket Raccoon:

Some Nintendo stuff:

Dog stuff:

As for my vote, I have to say I'm quite partial to Sir Patrik's Mighty Sword of Greatness, but close runners up are awalterj's awesome drawings and Klumpen's waltz.

Very nice :-)
I'm entirely uncertain as to whether you forgot about this thread or just waited this long to show up on purpose so you could give everybody else a chance. 'Cause that's...quite astounding.
You ever considered going into comics?
I'll go ahead and tally up everything sometime tomorrow. If there are any last-minute votes, now's the time to make 'em.
All entries are on the OP and post #56. If anybody's passing by this thread (clicking on it compulsively), check out the entries and see the wonderful art of the GOG community! Vote for your favorite!

BUMP
It's all over! The votes for the People's Choice are in!

In first place, with 4.5 votes, Klumpen0185 has nimbly hammered his way to the top!
In second place, with 3.5 votes, Sir Patrik has dutifully slashed his way to greatness (with some help from his weapons supplier, xalegra)!
In third place, with 2 votes, awalterj has stealthily sketched his way to victory!

Those who were in for a prize shall receive one. After giving those out, I will make my personal picks. I will not pick anybody who won the People's Choice.

And now we come to my personal picks!

In first place, I've chosen NoNewTellToTale's tunes. I'm usually not into ambient/distorted/overly-electronic noises, but this entry in particular was interesting. It sounds like it could be a legitimate soundtrack to a space-y or horror-themed game/movie. Wonderful!

In second place stands cecil's X-Wing photo. Reminds me a bit of those fuzzy UFO pictures, except cooler and more believable. I can't quite fathom how you even managed a shot like that. Definitely good stuff, though. Excellent entry!

In third place is Fantasysci5's fan video. This is perhaps the most unique entry I've ever seen for any of these competitions. I can't say I know much about Law & Order, but this does look like it could be a legitimate intro of some sort for the show. The editing wasn't too shabby, either. Nicely done!

Congratulations to our winners and a big thanks to all our participants, without whom this most obviously wouldn't be possible. Never stop creating, my friends!
Congrats to all the winners!
Keep up the good work!
