Why are fundamental functions still missing from the client and from the website? This does not make any sense.
Why am I still unable to sort my owned games by purchase date in the client? If I set up a local currency and a location in my account, why won't the site follow those settings?
Where I am browsing the site from is none of your business! If my bank is in a certain country, why can't I use the currency for that country to buy games?
Why do I need a wallet in different currencies? This is so unbelievably stupid! How come Steam can manage these things properly and you still can't?
I'm on GoG since it was in beta, and things just getting worse, you are acting more and more like a large corporation.
Let's see, in no particular order:
❧ Extended unicode support, across the site and within configuration files.
❧ Ability to see, edit, and collate reviews.
❧ Avatars and image limits that make sense in a world that no longer deals in dial up. PNGs, for gosh sakes, even that would be an improvement!
❧ Usernames separate from display name.
❧ More source ports as options. A lot of games currently only run as a rough idea of running.
❧ A beaded curtain to permanently separate out NSFW titles unless specifically engaged with.
❧ Permanent search filters and/or the ability to eradicate publishers, and developers from search results.
❧ A modern forum with modern features, and by modern, I mean at least as many features as Something Awful. I've given my :10bux:, where's my premium features?
❧ Actual staff communication. Weekly roundups, monthly reports, quarterly publications, peeks behind the curtain, I don't know. All this silence from the ivory tower makes me antsy. I know some of you might say, "There's a blog", but they advertise that about as well as bread does catching fire.
❧ The ability to select games to watch for updates, and to select games to send updates to /dev/null.
❧ More modern installers, compression methods, and methodologies. A tar.zst is plenty fast.
❧ Support for odder systems such as DOS-J or other non-rom systems that can be legally engaged.
❧ Working with open source developers to help make our lives easier.
❧ Clam stew served in the cafeteria. More seriously, better library organization.
❧ A user suggested, staff administrated tagging system akin to the Boorus, such as Safebooru.
❧ The ability to see what, if any outstanding warnings, punishments, and bans a user has to hold.
Spoiler tags.
❧ Integration with GOGDB. It's already there, just make it public info.
❧ Clarity regarding editions, and making sure they and their DLCs stay stapled together as one unit, rather than separate units with separate reviews.
❧ Torrents. I know, it might seem scary, but it might also save GOG bandwidth at times.
❧ No more Galaxy. It clearly didn't shake out.

? If GOG was a large corporation wouldn't they have the money to fix/improve things ?

GOG has never made much money, and in recent years EGS has taken their spot as "#2 store", Galaxy 2 never really took off, etc. so I suspect right now they're just trying to not rock the boat and to stay afloat. If you don't care about the installers, there might not be any real reason to shop here, vs Steam.

They'd have to either be very user friendly(for those who don't know how to do things like, say, edit a doxbox conf file), or offered alongside more user friendly install options. But either way, I think t'would be a good idea.

You mean for tagging forum threads by category, to make it easier to search
through/organize them on the user end? If so, I think this would be a wonderful idea.

Possible solution: ditch further Galaxy development on Gog's end(and perhaps let the userbase help fix/improve the current version), and spend the money saved on the site/forums/store?

Yes. It’s a pain having to always manually exclude games that have not been released yet (pre-order or "in development").

You remember when Linux builds of GOG games used to come as .tar.gz archives? Good times…

As an open-source developer myself, I would rather not have GOG trying to work with me ;)

As an extra option, sure. As the only option, no way. I am already paying for games with my money, I don’t want to pay a second time with my bandwidth.

The single most important feature GOG needs.

No, I mean more simply, a system where if I know and own Botanicula, I'd be able to tap the tags with a wand and tell them that the game is literally wordless, so I think the application of the Story Rich tag is slightly a mess.

Organizing forum threads would be under the "premium forum features" marker.

Unfortunately, no. That must have ended quite quickly after my arrival.

Since we both were on GOG long enough to see the arrival of the first Linux games, I wonder if I might have hallucinated said .tar.gz archives.

OK, I spent a bit of time asking the Web to refresh my memory, and I find people mentioning said .tar.gz GOG archives around 2014. So my memory might not be faulty after all ;)

I doubt they're really spending much money on Galaxy currently. I do agree that it'd be nice if GOG went ahead and open-sourced it and let the userbase fix and improve it.

Thanks to Phantom Liberty, I do believe GOG made a decent profit last year (compared to previous years), but they may feel they need to spend it on "minimum guarantees" to get big-name games here. Related discussion from a few weeks back.

Either way, I also think it would be better to let the userbase work on it.

IIRC, I hadn't fully immersed into Linux just then. Wonder why they replaced them with the then still obsolete MojoSetup?
