got meself 5 new games that will bring another layer of enjoyment to my already happy life

Meridian new world

earth 2150 trilogy

magnus opum

enclave

and the best part, found out that the steam version of septerra corre works

now how 'bout that?

certainly septerra working out of the box from steam is a bit of a surprise, not to mention shaming towards gog or do you feel that the store gog should not be ashamed by having some older game not working when bought through them but it does work through steam?

That's strange, they're the same release.

well truth to be told i can't get the game working with the video's enabled but without they work fine, the gog game does play the video's quite nicely but leaves me with a frozen game environment

I have the GOG release and I also got a Steam key from a groupees bundle years ago and they're definitely not the same. The GOG release has one fix installed and the Steam version has a different fix. My guess is that it's the publisher's own fix attempt on Steam and GOG has tinkered with it themselves.

do you know what fix specifically they each have?

Not off the top of my head. I'll have a look tomorrow, if I even have it installed any more.

Possibly the Steam version has had an update since 2016. I had enough friends that would play that game all day, every day and all reported the same issues, crashes, video issues, glitches and instability on both versions. Most of the issues could be fixed with a quick tinker with config files.

I think GOG's version is the one with a third party patch actually. It wasn't like that when I bought it (it was like the third or fourth game I bought here) but it's been like that for a long time. So perhaps the Steam version used to have the third party patch?

not sure what is happening exactly here, i tried copying the extra files from gog to the steam version only to find the same problem, good video's no gameplay happening. if you remove the files the steam version works again as it should, without vids and with good gameplay, another steam user suggests that that the game will only play with an older version of quicktime installed, lower then 7.0, and that the qt installer supplied with the game is sufficient but i can't seem to find any version of QT installed on my system, windows 10, to make things worse another user reports that he made the game work like it should by disabling the directx options in the QT menu but again i can't find my QT and every attempt to search for such a program on the internet leaves me with found sites all accompanied with a warning for highly unsafe sites, my internet protection program won't even allow me to visit the pages, which i take it up for its word
---------------------------------
at least able to watch the video's with quicktime 7.6 installed so there is no loss there, and with only 7 game vids in place i guess i can play the game now with an eased heart
Oh nice you also bought earth 2150 trilogy.
I only need to play with ED through to beat the moon project and then gonna try lost souls expansions game from the earth 2150 trilogy.
Also i needed k-lite codec pack to make all videos work, at least for moon project, the intro and the 2 videos before.
The combined community codecs package did work with the original earth 2150 game but didn't show the intro in moon project.
Also ED is usually hardcore, i played with them first in the original game and then the other factions, the other factions were easier while ED really had some really hard missions.
So i guess proper order of playing factions is from down to up

oke oke, good to know, i'm not familiar with this series, i belief i had one of the games when younger and the only thing i remember was not being able to get past the first mission. Still recommendations are pretty high and with a price of below a euro ( found at my favorite illegal legal key distributor HRK gaming, where i shop once or twice a year scumming all the dollar deals ) it wasn't hard to throw it into my basket at all :-)

managed to get the game working, only the opengl resolutions work for me with the highest being 1280 which integer upscales towards the exact height of the monitor only keeping the 4:3 aspect ratio so with black bars on the side. Did not start in any campaign but i did watch the eurasian video. It will be curious to see if all the video's work from the start. I do belief i already have some extra codecs package installed so maybe everything will work fine
