Stay quiet and escape from the Castle.

Shadwen, the time-manipulation stealth/action game, just got a big free content update! Escape from the Castle contains 14 new levels to sneak around and incapacitate guards in. Series veterans might recognize them from the main campaign, but the reversed or rearranged layout will keep you on your toes. Unless you want to alert the guards and have all hell break loose…

To celebrate, all Frozenbyte games are now on sale for a whole week. Looking for some good old-fashioned top-down shooting action? Shadowgrounds is where it's happening. Or perhaps you've missed the inseparable trio and their physics-based puzzle-platforming stunts in the Trine trilogy.
Either way, we've got you covered:

Shadwen - 50%
Trine Enchanted Edition - 85%
Trine 2: Complete Story -85%
Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power -75%
Trine 2: Soundtracks & Artbooks - 85%
Shadowgrounds - 85%
Shadowgrounds Survivor - 85%

The Frozennbyte Sale ends August 16, 16:59 PM UTC.

BKGaming: The only one I don't own is Shadwen... might have to pick that up now.
All I can do is echo those sentiments.

I'll add that since I'm even more unlikely to have the time to spend designing levels with a level editor, than to have time to play the game in the first place. So lack of level editor is no big deal to me, provided you can still import modded levels from players who create it with steam workshop. Not that I'd have time to do that either.

phaolo: Btw, did they improve Trine3?
Any news about those Steam-only editors for all the series?
Should I even consider Shadowgrounds?
Good question on Trine 3. I have put off buying by the poor reviews, and the annoyance with Trine 2 of having a complete edition which doesn't include soundtracks and artbooks. Might hang on for a bigger discount, shame because the games 1+2 were good.

As for Shadowgrounds, well I have played both a couple of times. Do you like Alien Shooter, if so this is similar type of thing. They are both pretty good at it, you get a few jump moments, but other than that its standard tops down blast everything in sight action. For £1.40, you can hardly go wrong.

antrad88: Not sure how many people know, but they will be announcing their next game at Gamescom in 10 days.

Did that Splot game ever come to PC ? It was a bonus in one of the humble sales, but that demo looks completely different from the final version, that seem to be only for mobile phones and stuff.

ssokolow: My Humble library currently contains a Windows-only "Download Beta" link for it.
Last I heard Frozenbyte said they were still working on it mobile-wise at least. That was a year or two ago?

Sounds like either development hell or an extremely early case of early access failure.

Hmm, Shadwen is the only one I don't have, and that is a nice discount. Might pick it up at last. Either way, thanks for the additional content!

PookaMustard: So, what about Shadwen's level editor?
avatar
DyNaer: According to one review it''s linked to steam workshop.... so.....
So ...... what?
It's easy to remove any linkage to the workshop, which is only a file hosting service, not a mod manager.
Simply remove the link to upload a mod to the workshop.

That is a feeble excuse, and likely hides the real reason it's missing, contractual obligations or simply too much effort to take a link to a website out

I really don't know the real reason... i just pointed out , the version on GOG doesn't have the editor (i simply read one of the review on the gamecard : the third one)

If you want to know the reason, contact the support, but i doubt they will give you an answer...

If I recall correctly, they said they used custom Steam features to build the editor, so unlinking it would mean rewriting it from scratch.
I doubt that they decided to do it :\
Which of the Trine-games are good? I'm looking for good local co-op. The third got completely slammed in reviews when it released, so.. 1 & 2 then? :P

avatar
Random_Coffee: Do they support co-op with Xbox-controllers?
avatar
pacciulli: nope
Ah, damn :/ Twin-stick shooters and controllers mix so well. Crimsonland + a few controllers is infinite fun :) I'll just grab the games anyway, they're dirt cheap. But do they support a controller in single player at least, so I can play it from the couch?

Yes, a DirectInput controller.

It's a pity, because they tried to innovate the game style, but run out of money.
The reported missing features in Shadwen aren't a good sign too..
