When you say several do you mean 2? You came out at the end of the day and, by your words, painted a big giant target on your back. Any reasonable townie assumption should have been that you won't live to see the next day. Why didn't you share the Town result that you had if you were so scared of getting killed early? Wasn't that an almost guaranteed waste of 50% of your ability? If that wasn't so important to share before getting killed how come it was so much more important on the previous day?

[emphasis added]

Two things.

First one - if you investigated HijacK on N0 and got a clear Mafia result, even if you had info about this game mechanic, as you claim, you had no way of knowing whether it actually applied to HijacK, or that you shouldn't trust your investigation results (you still don't seem to doubt them).
So, for all intents and purposes you had found scum, yet didn't pursue him until after he claimed to be a second Death Miller, nor made any effort to steer us in the right direction.
And even if it applied to him, whether scum or anti-town neutral, he should still be the best lynch candidate based on your investigation, and waiting for him to make a misstep to vote him but make no real effort to persuade any of us to lynch him doesn't add up to me.

What if he hadn't come out as a second Death Miller? What if yogsloth hadn't claimed first which seems to have been the trigger for HijacK? You'd rather leave scum This makes my post #827 questions all the more relevant, but no answers, even though you replied to others. Though I see your defence seems to be "protect the role"; where did I hear that one recently? And as dedoporno already pointed out, your D2 move does contradict that defence. You no longer wish to investigate for town on subsequent Nights?

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly - you say you investigated HijacK on N0, and got a Mafia result with no quotation marks. You also say that at the time. i.e. during N0, you had info about alignments with quotation marks (meaning anti-town Neutrals). But alignments with quotation marks weren't a thing until D2 break.

My initial thought was that since this game mechanic wasn't public knowledge until D2 break, the only one that could have given it to you is the mod, and you now claim that he indeed did in your role PM.

The flips in quotation marks cause a lot of confusion and speculation. Why would the mod design said mechanic, then give away every detail to you, when not only it hadn't yet manifested itself, but before the game had even started (your initial PM)?

I mean, the mod surely looks to be a bastard, but volunteering to you this info that could break the game, at the time you claim to have had it, goes beyond and above being a bastard mod. More so since if there are this many Neutrals in play, they rely on public info as much as we do, if not more, yet we are given an edge right out the gate. I'm having a really hard time swallowing this.

But let's assume for a moment that it's like you say. So, every quoted flip we had so far is an anti-town neutral, regardless of the quoted alignment. That would make half the players Neutrals, with four of them (i.e. more than half) being anti-town ones. All the while, we have a single lonesome scum, and the only townies so far are the plot devices and you, if you are to be believed. Who or what guarantees that you won't flip "Town" yourself?

Additionally, should I believe you, I'm not sure how to take your result on flubbucket - with what you claimed, he could be Town or "Town". So what good exactly does your investigation of him, or anyone else for that matter, do us? It seems to be rather risky to trust you and your results.

Why did you investigate Sage103082 on N1, and not one of drealmer7 or Lifthrasil who were your top suspects until HijacK's claim? I even recall you asking yogsloth to shoot Lifthrasil even after HijacK's claim, so at least he out of the two seemed to be a suspect for you.

I investigated Sage because of what I said in post 128. Once Hijack started pushing Lift I lost interest in looking at him, and with drealmer by the time the day ended h was not as high on my list anymore. Did you want me to lie about who I investigated? It would be simple for me to see who flipped what already and just claim to have looked at one of them. I also did not ask any clarifying information from RW. I rarely ask questions of a mod, I figure the mod gives us what we need to know and it's our job to figure out the rest as we play. Ask any mod of a game I've been in, I don't ask questions.

So, we didn't get the execution and the 2 shootings, but we got a torture and an actual double tap which are brand new.

dedoporno: So, we didn't get the execution and the 2 shootings, but we got a torture and an actual double tap which are brand new.
The double-tap is a gun kill and is meant purely as added flavor than "so and so was shot". Anyone trained to kill with a gun can be considered familiar with the technique. Meaning that, for variety, this may or may not be the same shooter as the previous kills.

Knowledge of quotation marks from your investigation PMs while possible, seems improbable.

My boy had a birthday yesterday so I didn't have too much time after work and today is turning out to be very busy. I'll be online in a few hours most likely.
If trent is telling the truth we have:

town: trent
neutral: Lift, drealmer, doc
anti-town neutral: Sage, bookwyrm, bler, HijacK
mafia: yogs

It sounds like there's a distinction between neutrals - those who pose a threat to town and those who don't. Regardless, it’s a whole lot of neutrals.

That leaves five unknowns. If one mafia team, then the remaining players are:
3 town, 2 mafia OR
2 town, 2 mafia, 1 neutral of some nature

If two mafia teams, then
2 town, 2 mafia teamA, 1 mafia teamB

Does anything else seem plausible? I am assuming a single mafia team would indicate 3 members, 4 seems too much, is 2 too few? I assume town needs to be at least 3, 4 sounds more favorable.

We should be done or nearly done with players who flip with quotes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------

If trent is lying, the current state is more of a guessing game. My guess is still the quoted players are not what they seem. In which case,
town: bler and Hijack are possibilities
neutral: Lift, drealmer, doc
mafia: yogs
not-town: Sage, Bookwyrm

Bler and Hijack don’t have to be town. I’m just not sure why a mafia would flip “neutral” or a neutral would flip “mafia”. Well, perhaps if there’s multiple mafia teams.
At the end of D2 you claimed to have had knowledge about HijacK being a bad guy, but left both what that knowledge is and what "bad guy" means ambiguous.

After Hijack flipped "Mafia", your first explanation/argument was post #825, basically pointing at the missing quotation marks in your own PM ans saying that he flipped exactly what you thought he would.

When that was questioned, your narrative evolved, and you now had "info that quotation marks around any alignment really meant anti town neutral" at the time you investigated HijacK as Mafia on N0, still being ambiguous as to how and when you acquired said info.

When questioned about it and the discrepancy between your results and the flips, it evolved further to the mod having volunteered all the details to you in your role PM.

When your survival was brought up and questioned, and only then, you added being a one-shot passive Bulletproof that may or may not have saved you N2. Why not N1? In this killers-rich environment (even more so based on your own claim about anti-town neutrals), how can you know nobody took a shot/stub/whatever at you on N1?

It'd seem that we have to drag things out of your mouth, feels like you're hiding something, if not straight out lying, and adding and adjusting things in an attempt to be believable.

The way you played all of D1, I have to scratch my head that the reason given in your post #128 was a more than strong enough motive to choose her over anyone else you had looked at during D1. Even if you hadn't a strong enough motive anymore to investigate drealmer7 or Lifthrasil, as you say, wouldn't it be a good idea to check JMich, "the slot that will literally be a blank slate that can be written however JMich sees fit", as Bookwyrm627 put it?

avatar
trentonlf: [...] Did you want me to lie about who I investigated? It would be simple for me to see who flipped what already and just claim to have looked at one of them.[...]
No, I didn't want you to lie, but I'm still doubtful that you aren't. HijacK and Sage103082 do fall into the "see who flipped what already" category, and they work beautifully to support your claimed knowledge of "all alignments in quotation marks really mean anti-town neutrals", whereas drealmer7 and Lifthrasil, your D1 top suspects, don't.
As for having investigated flubbucket as Town, well, it could be a calculated risk you took; for all I know, you may be said investigative role but not a town-one, and have checked flubbucket, so you could be dishing out what you thought may allow you to escape immediate lynch, possibly gain credibility in the process, and/or get people to look at flubbucket closer. And even if you're not an investigative role, perhaps you took a calculated risk looking at the field that one of the remaining players may flip Town or "Town".

Bottom line, the only way to test your result on flubbucket is to give you the benefit of the doubt, and lynch him right here, right now. Should he flip Town, you're cleared; should he flip "Town", you're covered; should he flip something else, you're back on the chopping block but not until D4. And based on how info is revealed by the mod, the game may well have ended before we get any enlightening info about flubbucket. Either way, it'd give you at least another Night, and if you're not town, gods know what you'd use it for. And if you died during N3, it wouldn't matter what flubbucket's flip turned out, would it now?

So yeah, picking flubbucket instead of a third dead player doesn't necessarily mean you're truthful.
avatar
cristigale: If you don't know whether or not the bullet proof had been used, why didn't you share more information yesterday? How could you be sure it wasn't already used?
It's a passive ability so I have no clue if it's been used or not, and if scum wanted to waste an attempted hit on my last night I was not going to put it out there that I had a bulletproof vest. I am assuming I still had the vest last night because after I made my announcement on Day 2 I fully expected an attempt on me and if my vest had already been used I would be dead now.

I do find it interesting how many people seem to be so disbelieving of a Town investigative role and are ready to lynch said role. I have no idea of the setup, but it seems to have an extraordinary amount of neutrals in it. So I can only assume that scum and Town have a limited amount on each side, and with 6 of us left if Town only has a limited amount of actual people on our side then lynching me is almost a guarantee for a Town loss. I'm not even sure how Town or Mafia had much of a chance to win this game the way it seems to be playing out.

If I was to guess right now I think JMich is either scum or an anti-town neutral. I went back and looked at his posts from yesterday and this post here is anything but a typical JMich post. Pretty sure a town JMich is not going to go "Fuck it I'll believe you for now"

By the time Day 1 ended I found more people to be higher on my radar from how they were behaving or things they had said, and I was not going to shout it out to them as I find that makes people change what they are doing. So I chose to investigate Sage instead. JMich was not even on my radar to look at because he had not been playing up til that point, and I wanted to check someone who had been playing.

To be honest I have no desire to lynch flub today because if he is Town and not "Town" then lynching him would be the same as lynching me, and I am not going to take that chance. As of right now the person I see as most likely to be scum is JMich.

Vote JMich
