This is the sign up thread for forum mafia game #39. The setup is similar to Game #27 but with some distinct differences. Please read on....

All We Are Is WIFOA

Wine In Front Of All We Are

1) Players sign up in this thread to play. Sign-ups will remain open for at least One Week…maybe longer.

2) Players submit their bidding numbers to me via PM; see the bidding process below for details. Numbers may be submitted at any time after signing up. However, once step #3 begins, anyone who has not submitted numbers will be placed at the end of the role pick queue.

3) Players are notified if they are town or mafia, but no roles are assigned yet. Mafia members do not know who their teammates are.

4) Role picks will happen starting on A DATE TO BE DETERMINED. Anyone who misses the deadline or does not submit a role pick is assigned vanilla.

5) Game starts shortly after Role Assignment is completed. Assuming everything goes smoothly.

Okay, so that's the rough idea of how things will go. Now, to explain the concepts behind them:

The bidding numbers process:

In this WIFOA game, all roles are bid upon by the players. To determine the bidding order, all players choose two numbers between 1 and 20. The first is the primary number; the second is only used for tiebreakers.

The person who chose the lowest number will have first pick of roles, with subsequent people choosing as you go higher in the numbers.

However, if any number is chosen by multiple people, then they will choose a role after all single number picks have chosen. Lower numbers are better, but singles will always beat out duplicates, which beat out triplicates, etc. If the tiebreaker numbers are equal as well, then time of submission is used as the final tiebreaker.

In a nutshell: The goal is to choose the lowest numbers you can, but also avoid picking any number that any other person has picked. The better you do, the sooner you get to pick a role.

Once all bids are submitted, the list will be published and we can proceed into picking roles. Each player gets one pick.

Players do not know what roles have been picked ahead of them. No role may be duplicated. If a role is chosen which has already been chosen by someone with higher priority, they are then assigned a vanilla role.

Here are the roles available:

Cop - Guaranteed to be sane.
Framer - Each Night you may spray one player with Axe Body Spray altering their alignment if investigated. Effects wear off before next Night Phase returning player to normal.
Mystery Role - I’m guessing it’s some sort of mystery role.
Cult Leader - Each Night you have a percent chance to recruit non-mafia to your faction.
Vanillaiser - Each Day you target one player and remove their power for that Night only.
Role Thief - Each Night you may steal another player’s role and use it the following Night, thus rendering the player “Roleblocked” the following Night.
Bus Driver - Choose any two players (including self if you’d like) and actions directed at one affect the other and vice versa.
Bodyguard - You choose a player each Night to protect.
Lightning Rod - Choose to redirect every single night action upon yourself. Cannot be roleblocked.
Rolecop - Learn someone's role.
Lynchproof - One shot. First lynch on you will fail.
Party Host – If you are killed, a list of everyone who visited you is posted the following day.
Jailkeeper - Roleblocks and protects target. Cannot use on self. May use on same target two nights in a row. Roleblock is for that night only.
One-shot vigilante - Player's choice of night or day kill.
Jack of All Trades - Comes with following, all one-shots: Role Cop, Vigilante, Roleblocker.
Watcher - Target someone to see who else visited them that evening.
Tracker - Target someone to see who they targeted/visited.
Roleblocker - Target someone at night to stop their actions for next “48” hours. (Basically that night PHASE and/or any following day PHASE actions).
Strong Man - Your kills ignore protections.
Double-voter - Two votes. Both votes are public.
Ninja - Immunity to watcher and tracker.
Treestump - Unlynchable, bulletproof, no vote; must claim in thread for effects. If mafia takes this role, then they don't count towards winning and may not submit night kills once claimed.
Godfather - Immunity to cop.
Doctor - Can target self. You may not protect same target consecutive nights in a row.

PLEASE BE ADVISED: Some roles will have Night Zero Actions and some will have Super Secret Secret Stuff only revealed to player possessing the role.

Sign me up!
Even though I'm unsure of which step 3 is step 3, I'll give it a go (again).
If the game will be starting around next week, I'm game. Sure, sign me up. I need some practice. But only if it starts beginning next week or later. This week is simply hell and I don't want to join a game I won't be participating in for a while.
I'm in for Plaid Pony. I'd like to select "Town Unlimited Shot Vigilante".

I haven't read the instructions yet. Depending on what they say, the above selections may change.

Fair warning.
Ok, this is a rather interesting start. I think I can squeeze a few more hours into 24 hour cycle.

Sign me in! Or on! Or UP even!
I PLAY NOW!
Huh...interesting setup.
A list of roles? This...might actually compel me to play. Just to see if I fare any better. I just can't promise you guys I'll be logical or coherent.

Flubbucket took a hostage. I am forced to play.

--------------------

So, the first person to choose a role knows every role available in the game that can potentially be picked by someone? The last person only knows their own, and possibly all other roles that have NOT been chosen?

Will we by told how many people are before us and/or after us in the order?

JMich: Even though I'm unsure of which step 3 is step 3, I'll give it a go (again).
Step 3 is "make her open the box."

Put me down as a sub for now. The threat of ending up with a vanilla role if one delays isn't much of a threat if one would prefer to be vanilla ;)

p.s. If I do play, I'm totally choosing #1. And then I will use it to take a vanilla role. WIFOM that. ;)

I already did that; my numbers are submitted. So, you just have to follow through to make it happen.

Oh, that's scum talk! Not foolin' me!

That appears to be the case.

Jesus Christ.

Did the both of you miss the bolded part where he said "the list will be published"? I think he means that everybody will know what the roles are, but nobody will know who picked what.

Heh.
