The original Fire Emblem game is coming to the west for the first time. The game will be translated in English. You can rewind to previous turns. But if you are a chad like me, you don't need to do that. You can fast forward through actions. You can also create and load bookmarks. Why have bookmarks and a rewind option? I feel like these just cancel each other out. Maybe I'm missing something. The game will also have a collector's edition. I can't afford it, which means I'll be crying myself to sleep tonight. It will have an NES box, a replica cart & sleeve, a 222 page colourized art book, a code to download the game, a localized NES manual, a world map, and a Nintendo Power poster.

The game itself will be released on the 4th of December. And for reasons that are beyond me, it will be pulled from the e-shop on March 31st, 2021. The base game will be $6 USD, and the collector's edish will go for $50 USD.
I live and breathe Fire Emblem and I don't understand this.

Not just pulling it after a few months, which is stupid, but like... why release this one in the first place? Fire Emblem 11 (Shadow Dragon) for the DS is a remake of Fire Emblem 1, so it's not like no one has had the opportunity to play Marth's game in English already. Why not port that one to the Switch with a translated version of the Japan-only Fire Emblem 12 that continues the story? Meanwhile, Fire Emblem 4 isn't translated. Fire Emblem 5 isn't translated. Fire Emblem 6 isn't translated despite tying into the story of the first Fire Emblem game that was translated (and including Roy, who joined Smash Bros with Marth and hasn't ever seen an official English release). Fire Emblem 3 hasn't been translated and is yet another remake of this game.

It might be kind of cool to play the very first game in its original form. Still, there are so many other worthwhile games in the series that are in need of translating, but they keep getting stuck on this game despite it preceding many of the elements that later distinguished the series from its peers (like the weapon triangle that was first introduced in 4).

That is absurd. A collectors edition of the game that doesn't include the game on a physical medium?

3 is mostly a sequel to 1 with a cut down version of 1 included as "Book 1". FE12 that you reference continuing the story of FE11 is basically a remake of the new portion of FE3.

I agree. Games from Indie devs (like Shantae and Retro City Rampage) were able to get their re-releases on the original media. And they didn't have the kind of money Nintendo has. There's no excuse for this title not to have a physical working copy of the game.

I wasn't suggesting that the NES cart should be a working product, but rather there should be a Switch card in place of that download code.
Something big is planned for April 2021, but it's weird that Nintendo would act according to that for a few titles. I don't get it.
No physical cartridge??? Very odd choice for Nintendo... I'm getting a switch tomorrow, got a few games collected over the months to be ready!

I swear Tetris 99 and Nintendo clubhouse 51 games in one will eat my life up haha.

They should have had the NES cart act as the case for the Switch cartridge for the game, that would have been killer tbh. my sister is a huge fire emblem fan and was pissed knowing there was no cartridge.
