I know there's an etiquette on most forums for poswti ng redundant shit before researching existing posts and answers.
Sorry though I'm fairily innept on understanding is this area and generally need step by steps to edit .cfg/ .dat / .ini files, set Nvidia Ctrl Panel/CCC profiles and settings etc.

I tried to follow the WSGF forums steps for F.E.A.R. Extraction Point addon pack though the file it refers to "settings.cfg" in the FEARXP directory doesn't exist.

Frustrated completely. Searched other sub dirs in game install directory and came up looking like a bitch.

Please help me.

It's too early too fully reinvest in re-experiencing in a way Shadow Warrior, at least until April on my stingey budget.

EDIT:

Thanks for the replies I am looking into it.

I did find a partially successfull work around...

I found a partially successful work around to the problem.

I replaced "ConfigXP.exe" with "ConfigXP2.exe" from Perseus Mandate "FEARXP2" directory then renamed "FEARXP.exe" to "FEARXP2.exe."

I was able to set resolution to 1080p and launch game and play without issues and was even able to create a custom Catalyst Control Panel profile with additional post processing.

It was all choice until I reached the "Ambush" mission when I started experiencing game crashes. I disabled the custom CCC profile as well as crossfire and made sure it wasn't a corrupted quicksave though the problem still persists including the occasional BSOD (Windows 8.1 standard 64bit).

I played through the entire mission after replacing the original file configuration and it worked again.

You might want to browse this game's own subforum, maybe you'll find help there:

If you're on Win7, it's in Users\Public\Public Documents\Timegate, iirc

Had to edit it to get widescreen resolutions working
The settings.cfg file is NOT in your Fear game directory (where you have Fear installed). The settings.cfg file is in the directory mentioned in step 2.

1. Run the game once and configure the options however you like. Exit the game. You must do this because the game creates the settings.cfg file after you run the game.

2. Depending on which version of Windows you're using, the settings.cfg file may be in a different place.
a. Run notepad and open C:\Users\Public\Documents\TimeGate Studios\FEARXP\settings.cfg
b. If it's not there, look in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\TimeGate Studios\FEARXP\settings.cfg.

3. Change the "ScreenWidth" and "ScreenHeight" values to match your desired resolution.

4. Run the game but do not go to the "Display" configuration menu in-game or it will reset your resolution and you'll need to edit the config file again.

2024, not working, also I've applied the community fix for widescreen. GOG is such a fraud.
