JakobFel: Without going too deep (for the sake of keeping things on topic), but may I ask why you're not a fan of Bioware's writing? Of the KOTOR games, I definitely prefer 2 and I also prefer Obsidian, but I do also really like the first one and Bioware.
Because they usually adhere to any and all clichè, even the big "plot twist" in KOTOR was nothing special or new.
Companions do nothing but complain 24/7, and that only got worse in more recent times, where -like in mass effect- everyone is a big crybaby with daddy issues. Morality is bidimensional (althought that much is true in all of Star Wars too, the same shouldn't be said about "dark fantasy" and sci-fi), personalities are dull, plot point often downright dumb and nonsensical. Also, in Dragon Age and Mass Effect kidness always leads to wild sex while rudeness to random muder. Or wild sex ending in murder. Or murder ending in wild sex.

Gameplay wise, their RPGs consist mostly in thrash mobs and never had any unique element, it's just as generic as you can get.

All of this is my own opinion of course, I don't blame others for liking them but I personally get absolutely no appeal.

Ah gotcha, I can understand what you mean even though I do like their games. I've always thought Obsidian is usually the best when it comes to writing for RPGs. CDPR isn't far behind. But yeah, I get ya.

I also like Obsodian job, I don't think they have the best writing for RPGs but is a company that understand RPGs and their writing is very reactive, if I have to choose one of the KOTOR games I would definitely choose The Sith Lords.

Yeah, the writing in TSL is just sublime IMO.
These 3 are the best for me:
Star Wars Dark Forces
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Knights of the Old Republic
TIE Fighter
X Wing
The LEGO games

All great choices! I really need to go back and re-play Republic Commando sometime, it has been far too long.

Nice, I thought about grabbing all of the X-Wing/TIE Fighter games during the sale but I already have DRM-free copies of XWA and XWvTF from ages ago. Is it still worth playing the original XW and TF games if you're not a hardcore flight sim sort of person?
Tie FIghter
Jedi Knight 1
Empire At War
Rebellion.

X Wing was great too, I just think the Tie FIghter storyline was more compelling.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Classic) for me. :)

It just fits everything a complete star wars game should have imho.
You want lightsabers and jedis sith lords owning everything? You have it.
You want good squad tactics with a classic fps gameplay feel or tps? You have it.
You want strategy on conquering worlds and planning in a giant galaxy war? You have it.
You want epic spaceship battles that require team work to actually win? You have it.

You want all that to be multiplayer + mod support + a huge community playing it to this day? You have it.

I played them when they were released. I also played some other flight sims back then. This includes X-Wing's "predecessor" Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe or the Wing Commander series. In X-Wing and TIE Fighter you see side stories for the original movies. X-Wing starts somewhere before Episode IV, you will fly Red Five during the Battle of Yavin, and with the expansions it ends somewhere on Hoth before Episode V. TIE Fighter continues here and it will end somewhere before the Battle of Endor.

X-Wing has some very difficult missions which can be frustrating. Some of them were reworked for the CD-ROM DOS version. TIE Fighter introduced difficulty settings and is overall more accessible than both predecessors (including SWotL). IMHO, it is the best game of the entire X-Wing/TIE Fighter series and one of the best space combat sims of the 90s. Every serious TOP 10 list of the best Star Wars games should include TIE Fighter. But that doesn't mean X-Wing is a bad game. It is a good and fun game. TIE Fighter is overall the better game when you look at balancing, gameplay, story, graphics, etc.

The GOG versions of X-Wing and TIE Fighter contain three versions of each game. The original floppy disk version, the CD-ROM DOS version with higher resolutions and voice-overs, and the Special Edition which is a remake of each game using the X-Wing vs TIE Fighter engine. However, the Special Editions are using CD audio instead of the iMUSE system. Personally, I prefer the CD-ROM DOS versions of both games.
TIE Fighter

'nough said
I've only played
Lego starwars the complete saga on DS and Kotor 1-2
So it defiantly is knights of the old republic 1, the 2nd game has a good story and some better aspects but the first game has a better story imo.

Much obliged for the reply! I'm not a huge fan of overly difficult games but I do plan to get them either way. I just don't know when that'll happen lol
I love the X wing/Tie Fighter games, but then I am big fan of World War two fighter sims.
Just be aware it is a sim, and much more complex then Rogue Squadron, which was pretty much an arcade game.

Yes, I love the Rogue Squadron games but I agree, they're quite arcadey. I have Star Wars Squadrons and have played a bit of it but I haven't really played any of the original X-Wing games so I'm not sure how those compare.
