....and on his farm he had some friends E-I-E-I-O!

Stardew Valley, the ultimate feel-good simulator about life in the countryside, has finally released a multiplayer mode.

You know what they say: the grass is always greener... when you tend to it with friends! Invite up to three other players to join you as farmhands, start a new playthrough together or continue from where you left off, and share the simple pleasures of village life. Help each other out with everyday chores and activities, converse using the new chat box, or perhaps get married! It can get lonely in the countryside, you know.

The multiplayer mode supports cross-play with all PC users via GOG Galaxy.

Note: Linux users can connect to other players using direct IP in the multiplayer options.
Awesome update!
oh my... going to get pulled in again.

Don't fight it :P
I had uninstalled this... Nooooooo! I have to play it again now... I already have a job!!!
Is there a way to connect directly to Steam friends?

Thanks for supporting direct IP and LAN multiplayer modes and not sacrificing them in favor of Galaxy!
But did it add VR support? =D

Glaucos: I love this game and its developer: they support DRM-free gaming, DRM-free multi-player (LAN and direct IP), Linux, free content post-launch (and without raising the price tag), and all of this for a low price.
+1!

"DRM-free gaming, DRM-free multi-player (LAN and direct IP), Linux, free content post-launch (and without raising the price tag), and all of this for a low price." - in very few words you have summarized some of the most desirable characteristics of a great little game!

... one more reason to love and support the developer in these times of forced client software like galaxy or steam for MP gaming!

Darn, only PC users are chained to Galaxy-DRM?

Maybe I should swap back to Linux on the laptop...

EDIT: Okay, good. The post was just poorly worded:
"Multiplayer Notice: Multiplayer is available online via GOG Galaxy, as well as via LAN and Direct IP. All multiplayer connection methods are cross-compatible with the Steam version of the game." is how the store page lists it, so I still have no need to go near Galaxy.

Awesome. I've been looking forward to this.
thanx to the developers (of both base game and the multiplayer new layer)

it is so rare to see direct IP and LAN support nowadays
i am really happy about that

and also i'm very satisfied of dev(s) who keep polishing their games and adding some new free content/feature updates after release instead of just launch the game as is and wash their hands with it

I think we have our own backyards for that. :D

It's this kind of thing that makes me keep an eye on a Dev and be happy to support their products, both current and upcoming.
