Hi all, very noobish question. Trying to find my gog games using Scummvm and I can't seem to. I know I'm supposed to extract files but this is my first rodeo and would love some pointers.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Some of the Lucasarts games specifically blocked usage with ScummVM and do not offer the right files. I'm not sure which ones they are, but they're not all of them because I just downloaded Sam and Max and it uses ScummVM.

Which title are you referring to?

edit: Oh I guess I misunderstood - you're trying to extract files from non-ScummVM bundled games to use with ScummVM, like the title says?

Hi, sorry I can't help but I am curious: are you trying to extract the files to use on original hardware or what reason do you have for wanting to extract the files?

Here is a list of all data files needed for each game supported by Scummvm. Maybe it will help you ; )

- If you mean how to add games manually to a normal single ScummVM install:-

1. Install ScummVM
2. Create a folder (eg, "Day of the Tentacle" or "Sam and Max"). You can put a whole load of them as sub-folders under one main folder like "ScummVM Games" if that'll be easy to find
3. Copy the required files over into it one game per folder (the files needed are in the data files link in post #4 above).
4. Start ScummVM and click "Add Game" then browse to that folder and click "Choose".

The above only needs to be done once to add per game. To play them, start ScummVM, select the game and click Start. It's also possible to create direct Start Menu links to each game to launch them directly.

- If you mean "how to extract the classic versions to use in ScummVM from new Remastered / Special Editions", you have to use tools like, eg, DoubleFine Explorer for Day of the Tentacle Remastered. Or for Monkey Island 1-2 games, create a "Talkie Edition" (classic graphics + Special Edition speech) using details from here.

If you go to the scummvm website they have a list there somewhere which lists what game files are needed for what games to run under scummvm. One simply then has to copy those files from the GOG/etc install folder to a new folder(I put all of mine in a folder called scummvm files & then each game's files get a subfolder in that folder[ex: sam & max/full throttle/etc]), and then after installing scummvm one simnply runs scummvm and adds a game by selecting where on their pc the game's files are located(In my case the full throttle ones are in scummvm files\fullthrottle) & setting the other settings as needed.

Not Op but I did it myself with The Dig/Gabriel Knight 1 as altering GOG's scumm config files to use other settings like windowed mode borked my installs a few times, and also having all the games listed in one main scummvm install makes it easier for some(like me) to keep track of/use them.
