The name of this company probably needs no introduction among the classic game fans. Founded in 1982, MicroProse gave us cult titles like Civilization, Railroad Tycoon, and Pirates!, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Today 3 more games from the legendary studio make join the GOG catalog. Check them out!

European Air War (-50%) is a combat flight simulator and a sequel to 1942: The Pacific Air War. The game allows you to choose between 20 historical fighter planes and fly missions during the Battle of Britain, and the Allied Air offensives in Western Europe.

Hyperspeed (-50%) is a unique mix of RPG, simulation, and strategy. As the commander of a giant starship, you must travel across the vast space to find a new home to house Mankind. On your way, you must use a combination of force and diplomacy to achieve this goal.

Starlord (-50%) is yet another combination of simulation and strategy genres. First, you must pilot your starship in a string of ferocious battles. They culminate in acquiring wealth and political power that will enable you to become a true Starlord.

Take your time and explore these 3 unique titles – until 19th February 2021, 2 PM UTC they’re available on GOG.COM with a 50% discount!

Their comeback is accompanied by a Special Sale that features exciting classics from different genres with discounts that rise by 15% if you purchase 3 or more titles from the list. This Special Sale also lasts until 19th February 2021, 2 PM UTC.
discounts that rise by 15% if you purchase 3 or more titles from the list.

Looks like it also works if some games from the list were bought previously and are marked as owned on Sale page. Certainly got EAW with 65% discount and it was the only game I bought (using game page instead of sale page)
I read it as Total Air War at first and got really excited. European Air War ain't bad either of course.
So many nice classics coming, very happy I would love to see the revamped version of powerslave come here soon after the company that released the other one here are done making it and ww2 G.I!

What is the combat like in Starlord? Im not asking if its good or not. I just want to know what it is. All it says is "exciting 3-D battles". That could be anything. I would just watch a gameplay video to see for myself, but I cant find any.
EAW was an instantbuy for me.

At one time is had a large modding community on line; don't know how active it still is.
Was kind of hoping for Civ 1 and 2 myself.
I was just thinking the other day that an official release of Civ I and II would be real neat. I own all the other games in the series.

I haven't played the game extensively but the combat is like watch a Wing Commander or XWing series of automated combats via the AI where you can switch cameras etc. The combats also can be automated without any 3D involved I guess.

But. If your Lord's Battleship is involved in any combat you can manually fly the ship and help your forces as a traditional space sim, or let the things automated as before.

Before the 3D combat itself is triggered you lead your fleets like in a little tabletop hex grid where stategically you prepare the battle. Once two flotillas are choked the 3D combat starts.

The rest of the game, the focus is a mix between Emperor of the Fading Suns, Wing Commander Armada and Master of Orion meets Freelancer meets Crusader Kings and Dune.

The aesthetics and Gameworld are a Complex Feudal Space Strategy game with Dynasties, Big Galaxy, trousands of Lords, trade and diplomacy.

Basically you travel with your Battleship from System to System for diplomacy actions or to combat other lords or for trading to protect your Main System World, puppet Lords or change governors with people from your main family.

As I said before I have not played it much, but the basic game problems are the inconsistencies and unpolished basic details like unncessarily overcomplex and insconsistent GUI and a minor visual problem like unconsistent Aspect ratios.
Probably the game was rushed in the past. But the general idea was huge and a valiant effort, indeed

Yes, the original Civilization and CivNet should absolutely be here.

Oh, cool! Thanks! That sounds like the sort of thing I would enjoy.

I really want to like this game. It can give a lot of fun to 4x and space sim fans.
Playing a bit more and zooming out the galaxy the scale and the number of stars is outstanding. For a pseudo4x like this the scale is at par of Distant Worlds or Stellaris, maybe a bit smaller, but for a game from 1993 it is big. Frontier aside.
The original Transportion Tycoon and The deluxe version should be here.
FUnny they do have Locomotion, which is basicallly a messed up remake of TTD.

Starlord gameplay (PC Game, 1993)

Starlord (DOS, 1993) Retro Review from Interactive Entertainment Magazine

I haven't watched either of these; given the length, I'm sure neither of them is particularly deep.

There's also a trailer from its Steam release several years ago, but like a lot of game trailers, it's mostly useless for discerning how it plays or looks outside of cutscenes.

Sorry. I couldn't tell from your phrasing whether you couldn't find any videos about the game at all, or found some that were unhelpful. Given how many people are terrible at getting useful results out of search engines, I erred on the side of "'helping', but with possibly underwhelming results". :P
