Chesus98: GoG (and everyone else) the Fair Price Package is a tad bit strange. Here in Australia, GoG are asking for $72 (since I own the previous 2 games) and will give me ~$20 store coupon though, Steam is asking for a much cheaper price pf $54 (Australian). Why does GoG charge the "local retail cost" while Steam is completely ignoring it for this title?
That's odd, I didn't think the Australian currency had come in yet since I still see everything in US pricing (though generally different pricing to US folks as I'm in Australia). At the moment I'm seeing it as US $53.99 and it appears to be a standard edition, no pre-order exclusives like GOG has.

deonast: Hmm I always thought it was just witcher 2 that the backup thing was for. Shame you didn't spot some specials a while back the witcher 1 was really really really cheap on one of the sales, which would have helped with your discount on this much more expensive release.
avatar
Grargar: Free is a better word. Specifically, free with every purchase as part of the 5 year celebration of GOG.
I'd forgotten about that and I still have gift certs for it so I've PMed one to them now

I'm going out when I get back I'll post a few random witcher 1 gift codes on the forum for those wanting to get into the series.

Trilarion: Even worse one is fair to one seems unfair to another because there is no universal definition of fairness
There's more - 100USD could be fair price, yet 60 USD could be grossly overpriced from same person's standpoint.

avatar
Trilarion: Regional pricing, do they love it or hate it?
If it's cheaper, I guess they love it. As long as price has no collateral along - like regional and/or language lock.

The_Blog: QUESTION:
At 1:40 in the Trailer. Who is the guy with the mask between Triss and Geralt? D:
Anyone who would know?
Dijkstra grown thin?:D Isengrim Faoitiarna? Avallak'h?
Someone, who like Geralt, returned to life? I'd gladly see Regis or Cahir. Though chances to see them are smaller than see normal ending in mass defekt. :D

Niggles: As a sidenote, i would have thought CD Projekt would have allowed GOG to offer the game a bit lower priced than Steam due to GOG being owned by CD Projeckt....
For the first time in long time:), if not for the first time at all, something on GoG is cheaper than in Steam's CIS store. :D

HypersomniacLive: Yep, we exist in a legendary way! ;-)
Legendary edition. :)

avatar
HypersomniacLive: Oh, but I do know it, I listen to the soundtrack all the time - not using Steam and not having played the game doesn't mean that we're not familiar with other aspects of games like their soundtrack.
Sometimes I miss that "sarcasm" smilie you know. ;)

HypersomniacLive: No vows, just a concious consumer decision that's based and goes beyond strictly spending money.
And would you be so kind good sir, to share your concious consumer decisions? I wonder how close they are to mine, only addressed to poorigin or upay.

Kreegor: GoG price = $71.99 with loyalty discount. Steam price = $53.99.... come on GoG I just want to game and not all the others stuff. I want to buy the game and I want to buy it from you but the price is just not right for me at the moment. It's not often I'm itching to give someone money either ;)

I guess I'll just wait and see what happens.
Woah! It's just $36 for me here at GOG o.O
I bought it from NZ as well, because I am an Indian staying in NZ. It cost me $NZ 58.80. I guess basing the US Price, I should not get a discount or should get one? I don't know. A lot of people are bitching in Facebook as well.

I posted the same post three times like 1 minute after their 3 new posts. Still no reply. Some people are outright confused.

If your in NZ you pay the NZ price. Its roughly about what the USD price seems to be.

You know, who cares, atleast they are providing it DRM-free. So I am happy, they will njot reply because it will create a price war.

Jump on it on Steam... I'd bet my house that the price will be "adjusted" - maybe tomorrow... maybe the day before release... just know that ON release it will NOT be at this current price
How long will this preoder be active? Will it include the Linux version too?

You people at GOG/CDProjektRed include some of the most thoughtful in the gaming business. I appreciate those of you who set the tone a great deal and wish only the best.

If I didn't dislike the concept of pre-order (especially 8 months in advance!!) I would do so immediately, as this is pre-order done right... except for one thing: It strikes me that a "Detailed map of the entire region to aid you in your travels" is the sort of thing that is best sold as part of the game, regardless of when or where it is purchased. Wouldn't surprise me if you made it available to all at some point... ;)
Well glad to see I'm not the only one wondering about the DRM free premium on GOG.71.99 v 50.99 on Steam and I only have the Witcher on steam! Plus at the current rate its likely any linux version will only be on Steam and I'm mighty happy to wait this one out.

Why so? GOG is enabling Linux sales this year, while Witcher 3 is coming next year only. So why wouldn't they add it to GOG too?

This seems likely, the same thing happened with Watch_Dogs:

$59.99 USD until the day of release (or the day before), now it's $74.95 USD
The season pass also jumped from $19.99 to $27.95

It's as if someone forgot to set the price gouging level on Steam to "Australia" :p

DreadMoth: It's as if someone forgot to set the price gouging level on Steam to "Australia" :p
That was my initial reaction as well...
Region: Australia

The Witcher 3
(A$53 on steam, A$72 on GOG with discounts applied)

Despite the price difference I currently have a pre order with GOG, but it seems almost stupid to not take advantage of the error in pricing.

My guess is that the Steam version is currently accidentally priced under the American region.
It has happened before with many other games. I wish GOG could accidentally do the same for their Witcher 3 customers!
