skeletonbow: The problem with chemically engineered foods like this is that they are just a combination of individual nutrients that we're scientifically aware of, combined in a way that is believed to be the right proportions for good health - however real food contains literally tens of thousands of chemicals, the majority of which are not known as to their actual purpose and the benefits they may provide to the human body, or their chemical role in the bigger picture of things. As a result, these "chemical goo" foods are most likely going to be missing thousands of important micronutrients compared to eating real food.
Exactly.

Easy rule: avoid processed food and eat a variety of stuff.

Crosmando: So on the film "The Matrix" the crew of the ship eat a lumpy goop substance which is apparently an "synthetic protein", it apparently has everything a human body needs to sustain itself. It would be great if a food like this actually existed, but didn't taste like crap, no need to ever worry about cooking or worrying if you're eating healthy, just eat this forever and you're good. It kinda reminds me of porridge with milk, but afaik that's just carbs not protein.

Is there a food like this that exists today?

nightcraw1er.488: Ha, they were wrong. The body also includes the mind, and the mind would starve based on a diet of uninteresting bland food. Just try eating the same sandwich each day for a week. Much like everything else, there isn't a one thing fits all, the body needs exercise, you couldn't sit and eat this and remain healthy. And there are people who have survived extreme conditions with just water. Oh, and you also need the roughage for good digestion - which you wouldn't get from this. That being said, I have yet to see someone who doges bullets, so everything we know could be wrong.

As for a food, well everything my body needs is sausage and cheese.
Well to do with getting bored of a certain food; i think a lot of it is whether your body is in fact getting what it desires.
Think about pregnant women who crave very weird combinations and you start to realise the body does ask for things it requires.
Arguably though there are certain things the body regulates well and others it doesn't for example carbohydrates and protein.
Your body knows how much protein it wants, but carbohydrates it will just keep telling you your hungry even when it has more than enough on board.
