I know it may come as a surprise for you, but not everyone can take a day of on his whim, specially just to play a game.
Anyway, it's all just an annoyance for me, nothing more. I do have a lot of those lately (annoyances), which may be the reason I'm slightly overreacting. In the end my life won't change whether I'll play it today or tomorrow. But having a confirmed knowledge when exacly would be nice still. ;P

Aaaand I just noticed you responded to different post (not mine)... Well my only excuse is that I had not enough sleep last night. Sorry for that Berndulas...

It was meant to be a sarcastic reply anyway. I was looking forward to download the game while I'm at work an play it afterwards today because I only have an 8Mbps (that's mega*bits*) internet connection, which means ~8h download time.

Welcome to modern gaming, where a wait of a few hours is apparently morally equivalent to mass ethnic cleansing.

It would be great to know if the release version of GOG will also include the Day 1 patch:

What the heck is your problem? When the release date says 17th, I also assume that I can play it on the 17th. But this is not the case with Elex, especially without any preload avaible what so ever. This is also for me the last time I preordered a game on gog.com.

when the release date says 17th I expect it to be released on 17th, but sometime in the evening. I expect to be able to play it earliest on the 18th, more likely in the following weekend.

Anyway, that's what I expect, and I think it also the most reasonable. The world don't stop if I can not play a game for a couple of hours.
edit - by the way, a lot of Steam games have release windows around 18:00 GMT.

speaking of which, out of curiosity, when people say they expect a game to be released at midnight on the day - where do they expect it to be released? The time difference between say Phoenix, Arizona and Perth, Australia is 15 hours, so...

Call it ignorance on my part, but this game being a made in Germany, I would expect it to be playable there, by morning. It is now mid-day.

Whatever. :) I don't care, personally.

Well, the game card in the library (in case you preordered) says "only 10 : 37 : 37 left" so I guess you'll be able to download this around 23:00 CET, maybe earlier.

1 - A customer can expect to be treated fair, by which in this case I mean - know at what exact hour they will release it on given day. It's not like it should be a secret, or like GOG does not know it in advance. At least give an estimate on the release day (as Steam does), though idealy we could get notification a day before.
2 - Most of us (I would hope) live in the first world, so we should be facing and be concerned by first world problems mainly (not exclusively).
3 - In the end it comes down to simple truth, often forgotten in gaming industry as a whole these days: I pay, I demand. I'm not spending my hard earned money to beg for fair treatment. Day one patches (as is the case with Elex), DLC cut from the main game during development and general downgrade in quality of AAA titles. We are more or less forced to either stop playing or deal with it. And now people like you say we should be glad that they release the game at 23 PM on the release day??
Is it worth ranting about it? Propably not. Is it annoying enough that people are entitled to be annoyed about it? IMHO it is. I deal with enough raptor sh...t in my day to day life, to expect a different treatment from a provider of service for which I pay.
