Anyone know if there is plans for a physical release of Oblivion Remastered on PS5/XBOX Series X?
If not I guess I'll wait 5-8 years till it comes to GOG. I already own all Bethesda's Elder Scrolls on here and all Fallouts. Just waiting for the 8 year wait for Star Field. I know there is Steam but I fully moved to GOG as I like owning my games and have all the offline installers backed up.
IF they do a physical release I hope it's held off until they are done patching the game up. Many physical editions suffer greatly due to needing to essentially re-download the entire game due to the amount of patches and DLC that occur.
Hopefully, that is the good thing with GOG since it is the last to get a game with full DLC and is fully patched on its store.
Fallout 3 remaster is on that roadmap list on XBOX so hopefully these 2 titles come out on PS5/Series X as I am thinking that Sony and Microsoft is going to ditch physical this next gen. Once that happens I'll just be on PC only with GOG.
Forgive my lack of knowledge here, but I haven't bought a "physical release" of a PC game in many years since my computer can't handle many games newer than about ten years old. Does a physical release still include the game files or just keys to a download location?

I was just wondering what sort of media the files come on if the physical release still includes them, considering the Remaster's 115GB filesize, which is almost a quarter of my ancient system's hard drive. XD
I am talking about physical on console. On PC gog is the closest to physical you can get as you can download the game installer files and if really want to burn them to a DVD-RW or Blu-Ray RW and make a DVD cover art case or buy the empty collector cases they sell that just come with a code inside. GTAV was my last physical PC game I bought.

GTAV you get all data on I think 8 DVD discs, but it tries to force you to make a Rockstar Social Club account. If it is any other physical PC game, it is usually just a steam key inside or same with EA titles.

At most points now all the PC games in stores now are just an empty DVD case with a Steam code card inside and no disc at all. Not sure why a company would even release a physical and waste money on an empty case. I seen Fallout 76 physical on PC comes with a cardboard shape CD with a code on it and no real disc. At this point may as well just have games like the steam/XBOX/PSPlus & Nintendo eshop cards if want physical and just have the game code on back of scratch off card and have to activate once paid for.

Forgive my ignorance, but is there even a consumer/commercial disc that can even fit that damn game?

But also, your question strikes me as the hopelessly naïve. Physical releases are a dying breed, and I can't imagine Microsoft rushing to hit the button.

Well, the PS5 currently uses "Ultra HD Blu-ray" discs that have a capacity of 100GB, so with a little compression, I'd like to think so!

Or they can just use 2 or more discs! O.o
There are already a few games delivered on 2 BDs = 200 GB possible. It is surely not the "most affordable size" but a AAA game should be worth it... although rather on a truly complete edition.
