Seems like there's some bad news about this.
“Our Visceral studio has been developing an action-adventure title set in the Star Wars universe,” EA’s Patrick Söderlund said in a blog post. “In its current form, it was shaping up to be a story-based, linear adventure game. Throughout the development process, we have been testing the game concept with players, listening to the feedback about what and how they want to play, and closely tracking fundamental shifts in the marketplace. It has become clear that to deliver an experience that players will want to come back to and enjoy for a long time to come, we needed to pivot the design.”
Wait? So you're ruining a total perfect single-player story-based linear adventure game that everyone wants and turn it into what? A Star Wars Battlefront Spin-Off?
The suits have spoken!

Maybe EA has seen that Visceral Games was doing a game without loot boxes and decided to cancel that a give us another fantastic multiplayer game with loot boxes and DLCs.

I don't understand what they mean by "testing the game concept with players". How are they doing that? If they mean actual players, how come I've never heard of any way to join some kind of alpha testing? If they mean internal QA, then it's not really viable feedback on what gamers really want in a Star Wars game.

Of course, it's most likely PR bullshit to justify adding microtransactions and other stuff to get more money from the game, but still, it makes no sense.

Visceral studio forgot to add loot boxes to their game, and now they all fired:)

Now the game game wil have loot boxes where you gonna have the change to buy more loot boxes that will have loot boxes you can use in the sims 5, and if you get lucky those lootboxes will give you a better player in fifa19, or a shiny (empty) lootbox in the next dragon age game where you can put a hat in.

pretty much. the guys that did Return of the King and Dead Space, with some people from Naughty Dog were gonna do a story based linear action adventure title. It was probably gonna be real good. EA wants some always online microtransaction simulator and so cancelled it.

It's fucking Star Wars 1313 again.

It's optional dammit :o)
The sad part is that people will be pissed off at EA for a few weeks, but they will be back buying their games ASAP. Ea has done this sort of thing 20 times now? It has never lead to any kind of negative consequence for EA in the slightest. They will keep doing this stuff, and they will get away with it. Gamers forget things fast.

Their next victim is Bioware. Mark my words. The Creative Director of Dragon Age just quit Bioware. I think he was the last one left of the people who made the great Bioware games back in the day.

So where did he go instead?

Well dragon age 2 was a totall shower of shite, inquisition was better but turned into an "open world" grindfest mmo style. A quick look shows they have done anything since dragon age origins of any note.

This is what we're thinking over on swtor. They announced a few weeks ago server merging:

And backlash over their silly naming:
