That "Report as SPAM" should be reserved for those Indian love pills and Korean bamwar bots posts. NOT for posts by normal (and I'm using the term "normal" very loosely here) users, no matter how useless, silly or disagreeable they are.

Besides the fact that you could end up deleting someone else's proper conversation taking place in the thread, you are also resetting "Topics I've Participated In" to all who took part in the thread, which is rather annoying. I use it to keep track of my topics and it's just gone again because Ciomalau's thread got deleted.

Please stop. If you don't like a topic, just close it (and hit that red minus if it makes you feel better) and just igonre it.

I didn't know it had that effect. So you can effectively only "destroy" a thread by marking the OP as spam? What happens if one marks a regular post, will only that post disappear? (Assuming enough people mark).

Yes, and yes, though I don't know how many reports are necessary.

Yup. You don't like a thread? Kill the OP with spam reports and the thread will disappear!

Another yup ;P Marking posts as spam will delete them if enough people are doing it.

Well, my experience in the Great Spamwar leads me to assume that it doesn`t take much downvotes to effectively kill a thread. I guess it`s about 5 - 10 downvotes and "Mark as spam" untill a thread -and maybe single post- get killed.
didn't realize it was automated.

one would there are some kind of sanity checks. what if anybody could kill any long-standing thread?
This is part of something trending on the internet these days. If you don't like what someone say you make sure it disappears instead of taking the discussion or having to even think about your own or others opinion.

What was the thread about?
Now I'm curious too, what was it about that thread about? Also will the thread be brought back if the OP contacts blues?

Emachine9643: What was the thread about?
I... wish I remember. I don't even remember the OP's name, it was that weird kid whose name starts with R and has Romania as his location. It wasn't anything serious, several people replied and my post was a joke too. In retrospect, I should have known better than to post.

I think I know the thread and user you mean, but I believe his name is ciomalau, or something like that?

Edit:
I agree, by the way. Deleting posts and threads ruins the discussion history of the forum. It's annoying as hell to read a thread where every other post has been deleted.

I hate it when people just post "This." in reply to a sentiment they agree with, but ALL OF THE THIS IN THE F_CKING WORLD. The whole "mark as spam if you don't agree" thing has been pissing me off for ages. Sadly, I don't think threads like this will convince anyone, as people tend to think they know better, because they are the self-appointed public decency police.
I'm still trying to figure out how to mark a post as spam.

Was it ever any different?
If you look at how this was handled in the ancient world, in medieval times, whenever, wherever, I can't see it not happening. Today we got virtual pillories, thought police, forced alignment, censor-mobs, masses of taboos etc...
In principle nothing changes as long as human nature doesn't change.

Tauto: It's easy as down voting then you will see a report as spam tag.You could ask any in here and they would tell you how as they are experts at it.
Thanks for the explanation, i never downvoted anyone.
