ChrisSZ: If the internet connection is not a problem, maybe some settings in the firewall are?
I also live in a region where download speeds are slow at times. Sometimes Galaxy does not work at all without a VPN.
What I normally do:
1) Start the download of an offline installer in the browser (
https://www.gog.com/account)
2) Quickly move to the "Downloads" page in the browser, copy the full download link, cancel the download
3) Quickly paste the download link into the download manager and start the download from there
This usually works quite well and maxes out my line, at least in the night and early morning.
Please note that pausing and resuming a paused download will usually
not work due to the authorization checks. AFAIK it is not possible to store and use the exact link for more than a few seconds.
Edit @ nightcrawler: A download manager can use parallelization, you can have maybe 8 or 10 simultaneous connections, as many as the download source allows. Downloading directly in the browser uses AFAIK only one connection. If that one is slow, then the overall download speed comes to a crawl.
P.S.: Your text would be easier to read with some paragraphs. I guess you can expect more replies if the post looks more "inviting" to read.
thankx for the info , copy and pasting the link directly does solve the problem but i still don't understand why download speeds in gog galaxy client never goes above 30 or 40 kb ? The games which have achievements and cloud saves etc, how can we link those games installed through offline installer with the gog client ?
