Really new to running DosBox and gog games but I've noticed something happening now. Whenever I run the "Graphic Mode Setup" then make the changes in DosBox Configurator, the saved config file that results is messed up and the game simply can't use it. All of the lines in the config file become run on lines with words mashed together and no breaks. Any ideas what's going on here?

A little bump for you, in the hopes somebody can help you out.

Is it just one game this is happening with (and if so which game), or more than one?

Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the game?

Are you using Galaxy and if so what folder are you installing the game to? I know some people have had problems with installing games to the same folder as the Galaxy client is installed in (I'm not using Galaxy at the moment, so this problem may have been solved).
Could be trying to input on Dosbox commands that are unknown to it and simply
crashing it.Try a re-install and don't touch or change command lines and see how
it goes.
And yes.I know if wrong command is inputed it will ignore it,but there is always
the first time.

As odd as the re-formatting without line breaks is, that's something GOG's configurator has always done to the config files and it should have no bearing on the actual game.
If you want to edit the files manually, I'd recommend something like Notepad++, where the line break thing isn't a problem. On a similar note, ScummVM's .ini files are formatted like that by default.
So far its 2 games, but those are the only ones I've used Configurator on. Dungeon Keeper 2 and Kings Quest 1. Once I use the Configurator, like I said, the config file becomes a runon...and not just lines but some words even get mashed together. So resolutions and stuff never actually get applied. So far I've have just had to go in, recreate the config file and do it all manually. Works fine then of course. Was just wondering if anyone else had experienced and fixed it. Keep in mind the game still runs even with the mashed config, just none of my settings take.

Yes I'm using Galaxy but installing to a folder outside of Galaxy. Galaxy and the game folder are in the same root folder though.

Gunsynd: I've not done anything with the command lines and wouldn't really even know where to start. I just intall via Galaxy and then hit the "Graphic Mode Setup" which opens DosBox Configurator.

InfraSuperman: Thats interesting that Configurator does that because like I said, its not just line breaks but words are run together as well. I don't see how the program could parse out what it needed from it all but I'm not really savvy when it comes to this stuff either.

Thanks for the input so far folks!

Maybe you'll find some info here about tweaking:

I've not heard of this problem before and I think you may be best of contacting support.

You could first ascertain whether the problem is caused by Galaxy, or the game itself, by uninstalling the game and then downloading and installing the game without using Galaxy, to see if you experience the same problem (if you need help how to do this just ask). This should help support find a solution for you.

Best of luck.
I don't recommend GOG's configurator, it's bugged as setting screenresolution only applies to windowed mode and like you say it reformats the file.

Just use notepad and edit the .conf file yourself.
