I mean look at this. I mean sure, they look great as decoration, but for actually playing? And those aren't even the worst. What I really despise is sme ornate, barely readable shit like this. Orthis. It might look ok on a photo, but trust me- when playing the game, sitting across the table, in less than "perfect for photo" light? You end up with everyone leaning over this side and that, trying to see what did that show off fucker just roll. I can get collecting them- if you've got the money, honey, buy whatever you want. Hell, if I was crazy rich I might collect such stuff myself. But actually using that? When I'm the DM you either roll dice that I can easily read, or GTFO.
I only play with fuzzy dice, nobody gets hurt that way!

Seriously though, fancy dice like those don't even look balanced enough to truly get random rolls. I'd expect all those extra curves and decoration to throw off the roll somehow.
Those dice are not for gaming, they are for fastening to the rear view mirror of your nerdmobile.

PetrusOctavianus: your nerdmobile.
As in "quickly Robin, to the"?

(it has nothing to do with anything, I just felt like linking it:P)

No, I don't hate them. Why would I? I mean, some seem like they can be hard to read, which I would not personally prefer, but as far as I can see they do look rather fair. The 12-sided wizard-themed die seem like it can be difficult to see exactly which side it shows, especially if it's used on a tablecloth or something that may be a bit bumpy, but other than that I see no problems.

Now get a few of these dice, and see what faces you get.

I had a set similar to ^ those 35 years ago. They were a shade darker and the numerals weren't blackened. I'd break them out if the DM was being a dick, like when our party of 3 4th level characters ran into a mature black dragon. Needless to say we NEVER let him DM again.
I use human bones myself.

And +1 to PetrusOctavianus for his post. XD

The ones I hate the most are the ones where the colour of the number doesn't contrast well agains the background colour. Having to lean in close everytime they're cast or simply having to trust the dice roller's word is a bitch.

I wouldn't mind having a set of those.

Damn, we've got some veteran players with us tonight! Is this one of yours? >rimshot<

And we'll be right back, folks, talking to Jesus about how he always makes all the saving throws. >goes to commercial<

I bet that left some dents in the table.

I actually like that second set, if only they weren't transparent. I mean, if they were opaque, you could read them, and they'd probably look damned nice. Otherwise, yeah, I agree that they're useless for playing an actual game, but damn, they'd be great for collectors.
I do not feel this way.
lol :D
but anyway, what I'd be concerned about is how they actually roll. Regular dice roll regularly (lol what a stupid phrasing :D) but these ones in the pictures seem like they'd behave differently because of all those pointy thingies sticking out of them and whatnot. It looks like ti would be easier to roll whatever number you wanted if you threw them just right because those weird carved pointies would make the dice stop much sooner than a regular dice.
Apparently those Polyhero dice are just cheap plastic, at least that's what I saw some backers post on Reddit.
They're all meant as novelty stuff though so I suppose that if people like them they can get them, personally I won't.
And dice aren't really random due to weight issues and such, especially cheap ones like Chessex.
But than again that's not really the point, they're (IMO) a fun way to introduce semi-randomness into a game.
